Chapter 13: Base

David, Maria, and Jack were all focused on their respective tasks when suddenly, the monitor they were watching flickered and showed a pair of glowing red eyes staring back at them.

"What the hell is that?" Maria exclaimed, leaning closer to the screen.

Jack quickly adjusted the camera, trying to get a better look. But as he did so, the screen went black, and all the equipment in the van shut down.

"What's happening?" David asked, frantically tapping on his laptop.

"I don't know," Maria said, trying to restart the communication devices. "Everything's down."

David knew that they had to warn Adam and Sarah before it was too late. He quickly grabbed a walkie-talkie and tried to get through to them.

"Adam, Sarah, can you hear me?" David spoke into the device, but all he heard was static.

Jack tried to adjust the frequency, but still, there was no response.

"We have to do something," Maria said, her voice shaking with fear.

David knew that she was right. They couldn't just sit there and wait for something to happen.

"I'll go outside and try to get a signal," David said, grabbing his laptop and rushing out of the van.

He ran to a nearby building, holding his laptop up in the air, trying to get a faint signal.

Sarah felt uneasy as she walked down the dark alleyway, the only sound the soft clicking of her communication gadgets. She had always been cautious, but tonight felt different. She couldn't shake the feeling that someone was following her.

She tried to contact the rest of the group, but her communication gadgets were acting up. Static filled her earpiece, and she couldn't get a clear signal. She felt a sudden chill run down her spine as she heard footsteps behind her.

Before she could turn around, a hand clamped over her mouth, cutting off her scream. She struggled to break free, but the person behind her was too strong. She felt a sharp pressure against her carotid artery, and then everything went black.

"Cyborg" Sarah muttered as she drifted into unconsciousness, her last thought was of Adam and the rest of the group.

Finally, David managed to get through to Adam.

"Adam, listen to me," David said, his voice urgent. "The perpetrator is coming towards Sarah. You have to follow him stealthily and find their hideout."

Adam's voice crackled through the walkie-talkie, "What's going on? What happened to the communications?"

"We don't know," David said, looking over his shoulder. "Just be careful and follow the plan. We'll try to fix the communication devices from here."

"Copy that, David," Adam whispered into his walkie-talkie. "I'm going to follow and see where they're taking her."

He took a deep breath and started to move towards the location, staying hidden behind buildings and trees to avoid being detected.

As he followed , Adam couldn't help but wonder who was the kidnapper, it wasn't a human as he saw the red glowing eyes of kidnapper.

'Hmm, a cyborg maybe,'Adam thought as he stealthily moved near the kidnapper and lo and behold he was right. The cyborg was carrying Sarah in his shoulder.

The cyborg had a human-like appearance with various metal or robotic parts integrated into its body. It had glowing red eyes as seen in the footage. He was about 6ft tall wearing a black hoodie, which was pulled up over his head, obscuring most of his face in shadow.

Adam moved through the maze of buildings and roofs, carefully avoiding any sounds or movements that could give him away. He had been following the cyborg for a while now, keeping a safe distance, waiting for the right moment to strike. The cyborg moved with purpose, its steps calculated and precise, its movements fluid and almost inhuman.

As they moved deeper into the city, the buildings became older and more dilapidated, the streets narrower and darker.

Adam knew that they were getting close to the base. He couldn't let Sarah be taken there. He had to act fast.

As they approached an old abandoned warehouse, the cyborg finally stopped. Adam hid behind a nearby dumpster, watching as the cyborg entered the warehouse with Sarah still in its grasp.

Adam took a deep breath, knowing that this was his chance. He slowly crept towards the warehouse, trying to find a way in without being seen.

He found an open window on the side of the building and climbed inside, keeping his footsteps light as he moved inside.

He immediately crouched behind a stack of old wooden crates, watching the cyborg as it approached a tall pillar standing in the middle of an abandoned lot. The cyborg moved closer to the pillar, and Adam could see that it was holding a small device in its hand.

Adam's heart pounded in his chest as he watched the cyborg enter a code on the device. Suddenly, there was a soft beep, and the pillar began to slide open, revealing a hidden elevator shaft.

Adam knew he had to act fast. He checked his weapons, which was his trusted knife and an electromagnetic taser to making sure they were , and then silently crept closer to the cyborg. He could hear the hum of the elevator descending into the ground below.

Just as the cyborg stepped onto the elevator, Adam sprang into action. He charged towards the cyborg drawing his knife and taser, bracing himself for a fight. The cyborg turned to face him, its glowing red eyes flickering in the dim light of the elevator. Adam could feel his heart pounding in his chest as he stepped forward, ready to strike.

The cyborg moved with lightning-fast reflexes, easily dodging Adam's first few swings. It retaliated with a powerful punch, sending Adam staggering back. He felt the force of the blow reverberate through his body.

Adam gritted his teeth as he lunged forward, his knife gleaming in the dimly lit room. The cyborg stood its ground, its eyes glowing a menacing red as it swung its metal arm, barely missing Adam's head.

They circled each other, each waiting for the other to make a move. Adam knew that he had to end this quickly before the cyborg overpowered him. He charged forward again, hoping to catch the cyborg off guard. But it was too quick, too agile. It spun around, striking Adam with a powerful blow to his side.

Adam felt his ribs crack as he stumbled backwards, barely able to catch his breath. The cyborg didn't give him a moment to recover, charging forward with its weapon raised.

As the cyborg lunged forward with its weapon, Adam instinctively raised his knife to defend himself. The two blades collided, producing a sharp metallic clang that echoed through the abandoned warehouse. Adam could feel the force of the blow reverberate through his arm, and he realized that he was no match for the cyborg's strength.

The cyborg's red eyes glowed with a cold intensity as it pressed forward, pushing Adam back against a pile of crates. Adam struggled to keep the cyborg at bay, but he knew that he couldn't hold out forever. Suddenly, he saw an opening. With lightning-fast reflexes, he darted forward and stabbed his knife into the cyborg's eye.
