Me, my sister, and Mrs. Ferrel got up this morning to spend a day at a local festival. The festival had many food trucks, games, art, and shops to look at. I wanted to look at the paintings on display because one of my paintings were actually on display. I saw my painting but when I could get to it, a guy stopped me.
"Hi."
"Hello, I'm sorry you're in my way."
"I'm sorry, I just saw you and figured I could possibly get your number. Um… are you from Tennessee because you're the only 10 I see."
I'll admit, the guy was pretty funny. We started to hang out at the festival, looking at the art, eating cheese fries, and painting on pieces of wood in an activity.
Kenai's point of view:
Dylan and I decided to check out the festival since Launa was busy. I picked him up at his dad's work that was 20 miles away from Launa's. I stopped by her house to see if she was home but she wasn't. We made our way to the festival and I got to say, it was fire. The scenery was really nice. I lost Dylan in the crowd, I always lose him somewhere. I finally found him with a girl in a corner of a building. Just as I was about to steal him back, at the corner of my eye, I saw someone who looked familiar. I turned to see who it was and it was Launa, with a guy that wasn't me.
"Launa!"
I looked up to see Kenai, furious.
"Hi, my name is Brody. Brody Winston."
"Yeah. Come on Launa, we've got to find Dylan."
"What's wrong Kenai?"
"He wanted what was mine."
"Kenai, you're so overprotective. I talk to one guy and you're already steaming from the top of your head. Everything was fine."
Kenai treated all of us to a dinner at the diner since he wanted to impress everyone. I was still kind of upset with the way Kenai treated Brody but this milkshake made him forgivable. My sister was really impressed with Kenai, except for Mrs. Ferrel. I wanted to know why Mrs. Ferrel hated Kenai.
When we got home, I walked into Mrs. Ferrel's room to talk with her.
"Hi Mrs. Ferrel, how are you doing?"
"Well hi Launa, I am doing great. Please have a seat right next to me. What did you need dear?"
"I came to talk to you about Kenai. You didn't seem comfortable with Kenai around. I want to know why, if that's alright with you?"
"Launa, I love you like you are my own daughter. I want to make sure you're making right decisions for yourself. You will be graduating this year and I don't want you to throw it down the drain for Kenai. That boy… is no good. He is the reason my husband is in the hospital but he doesn't know it."
"Can you tell me what happened?"
"It was Fourth of July, everyone was out celebrating, looking at the fireworks. Me and Henry got done eating dinner. We were driving on our way back when a bullet went through our back window. Luckily it missed us but Kenai was the one who shot the bullet. He assumed we were someone else because he continued to follow us. Henry was so scared that he began to speed on the road. A truck in front of us was coming at us and Henry didn't know how to feel. The truck was full of guys, dressed in black. They had a snake on their jacket. Me and Henry assumed that it was a chase. The truck swerved a little which made the guy in the back of the truck shoot a bullet. The bullet hit our tire and soon, me and Henry swerved off the road into a big oak tree. Henry went forward and hit his head on the steering wheel. I took one good look at Kenai but I don't think he remembers me. With our car being damaged, I had to buy a newer one when Henry was in the hospital. Henry is still in a coma right now. Launa, please be careful. You don't know what you're getting yourself into. I want you to throw that Syrens necklace away, the one hanging on the wall by your bed. I must sleep dear, goodnight."
In my room I sat at the edge of the bed thinking of the possibilities of me getting hurt or my family. I stayed up quite a while doing my homework. My phone notification went off and I saw a message from Brody.
We talked on the phone nearly all night until both of us fell asleep on the phone together. Brody was into art and he was also participating in the art contest that DJ had talked about at the beginning of the year.
The next morning, Friday already. Jazz came over to help me with my uniform. I curled my hair and did my makeup even more glamorous. Mrs. Ferrel had made us breakfast before me and Jazz left for school.
We made it to school in time because student council were selling homecoming tickets for tomorrow night. I wanted to buy two for me and Kenai since he talked about us dancing. As I got in line to purchase my tickets, they were sold out. I was really devastated because I wanted to surprise Kenai. I walked down the hallway to see Kenai waiting by my locker. My heart turned dark when he asked about homecoming. I told him I couldn't purchase the tickets and he grew sad.
Kenai's point of view:
I woke up this morning to pick up Dylan so he could help me with the homecoming proposal. I needed to pick up the donuts, flowers, tux, and balloons before school started. Luckily I got to school before Launa did because she would've seen the things I had planned. Launa looked so cute in the cheer uniform, I wanted to grab her by the waist and slap her a*s but I kept my boundaries. I could tell she looked sad so I asked her what was wrong. Poor thing… she was sad about homecoming tickets being sold out but she doesn't know what's going to happen after school.
I got out of class early to set up by the entrance of the school with Dylan. I put up the poster with the balloons and had the rose petals on the floor. I got into the tux and had Dylan carry the donuts and gift bag. The school bell rang and I saw everyone waiting by the door for Launa. She walked out in total shock, she was beginning to cry as she saw the poster.
"Launa, you are my one and only and I was hoping you would join me with a dance at homecoming?"
Launa said yes as she jumped into my arms and kissed me.
