What's so odd?
Xingxing looked confused.
But whatever Su Luo instructed, she just did it.
The mistress and maid sat down at the table and started painting the small wooden blocks.
Su Luo had already sorted them into piles.
This pile was red, that was yellow, this piece was green, and those were purple.
Xingxing was meticulous; she painted quickly and well, much superior to Su Luo's craftsmanship.
By sunset, all the blocks had been painted. Charcoal burned under the table, roasting them until their vibrant colors became fixed. It was incredibly intriguing to look at.
Unable to contain her curiosity, Xingxing asked, "Madam, what's the purpose of all this?"
"Let me show you a magic trick!"
Su Luo explained, quickly assembling the completely dried blocks into a brightly colored house. A red roof, yellow walls, dark green windows, and a brown fence enclosing the yard.
Xingxing gazed in astonishment, "Madam, how did you do this trick?"
