"Let's recap our lesson yesterday. Tell me why spear has an advantage over sword"

Dominic asked us a question.

I roughly know the answer even though I didn't attend yesterday, but I stayed silent because I'm not sure.

Then one of the student put his hand up.

"Mario. Do tell us why"

"It's because spear is longer than the sword, so it has reach advantage"

"Not bad, that's correct"

He nodded, before continuing

"Spear indeed has longer reach than sword, therefore making spear has advantage over it. But in this case, it's only if mana is not involved. If mana is involved, then it'll be different story, as there'll be much more variables.

For example, let's say spear A is fighting against sword B. If sword B uses mana to extend the reach of his sword, I'll be almost as similar as the spear's length isn't it? When that happen, it'll be more like a fight of mana instead.

But, one thing that makes spear has total advantage over sword is that, spearmanship has a lot more variety of movement which is unpredictable to most opponents who doesn't know how the spear works, and most people don't"

I continued to listen to his explanation while summarising the important part in my mind.

"Who here has fighting experience?"

No one put up their hands, so I decided not to as well.

"Alex"

"!"

"Come here..."

"Eh?"

I got surprised, but I still walked forward.

"Um, what do I need to do?"

"Nothing much, just try to predict and block or evade my next attack"

"O- okay..."

I then got into stance, which is a little awkward because I only copied the one I saw in a manga back in earth.

The instructor looked a bit surprised before moving his spear.

It's a wooden spear, so I'm not that afraid of getting stabbed or scratched.

He swung the edge of the spear to my direction, which I bend my body to avoid it.

But as I was about to get up, suddenly the other edge of the spear hit me.

I didn't even have the chance to do anything before it hit me.

"Urk..."

I then got pushed a bit backward.

"Alright, did you guys see that? It's unpredictable because the whole spear is a weapon that can be used against your enemy. Imagine if the spear I used just now is a double edge spear, what would happen then?"

"..."

"Exactly, it would've stabbed Alex..."

The instructor explained it while having me go back to my original position.

He then had us to get familiar with our weapon first, and make sure we use the correct length depending on how tall we are.

The class proceed without disturbance until our break time.

"Hey, new guy..."

"Yes?"

"The name's Marco! nice to meet you..."

A bulky guy suddenly come to me extending his hand for a handshake.

"Ah, I'm Alex. Nice to meet you too"

I shook his hand and realised that he's gripping my hand tightly.

'This guy...'

He's trying to intimidate me.

I then smiled at him and put a little strength into my grip, which changes his face.

He started sweating but still smiled at me and pulled his hand out.

"You got strength huh..."

"Well, I worked out a little before this"

My lips curled up subconsciously while talking to him.

But he probably took it the wrong way as he looked a little terrified.

"O- okay... I'll be sitting there..."

"Go ahead"

He then walked away while the other two person looked at us in shock.

'Hey, he scares Marco away'

'He must be strong...'

They whispered among each other.

I can actually hear what they said, but I decided not to do anything about it.

I turned my head and looked at the direction where the swordsmanship class is taking place.

Kim Jaesuk looks overwhelmed as he's currently surrounded by both male and female students.

"Pfft..."

Seeing him like that, I laughed a bit before picking up my spear and continued to familiarise myself with it.

The class proceed without anything interesting happened until it ended at exactly 3 in the afternoon.

"Hey..."

I then approached the other two students who keep sticking together and asked them a question.

"Is this all of the students in the spearman ship class?"

"Umm, there's actually more, but since they're noble they have their own separate fields for practical lesson. We do take the theory class together though..."

Is what they said.

"I see... thanks"

"Yo- your welcome"

'Why the heck do they looks so scared?'

I'm getting confused by their timid attitude at this point.

I walked to the gym as I feel like I haven't gotten enough exercise for today when Kim Jaesuk approached me.

"Hey, where're you going Alex?"

"To the gym, need to do more exercise"

"Okay, I'll continue my sword practice here. Take care!"

He then walked away back to the field, whilst I waked towards the gym.

The door to the gym opened, and inside is so big.

There's a lot of facilities available inside, including a swimming pool.

It's also surprising that the facilities looks similar with the one that exist on earth, starting from the dumbbell, treadmills, and other similar equipment.

There's an empty space in the middle of the room, which I assume is used to fight because there's multiple weapon attached just in the middle corner across the door.

'It's odd that there's no one currently using it though'

I then took a nearby mattress and do my daily work out.

I'm in the middle of doing it when suddenly the door opened and a couple of girls walked inside.

One of them is a tall blonde with a slim figure that looks like a model, with a milky white skin, brown eyes, tall nose, attractive lips. Everything of her features looks like they're in the perfect place.

The other is shorter than the blonde, and has black hair and black pupil. She's wearing a long robe that covered her whole body, which makes me unable to determine how it looks like. But just looking at her face, its very attractive indeed.

I took a deep look at their face and suddenly remembered something from a novel that I used to read.

'I can't make it seem like I'm interested in them',

I then looked away and continue to focus on my work out while doing my best not to look at them.

I can hear them talking to each other, but I can't seem to hear it even when I'm focusing.

I then turned my head to look at them without being suspicious.

The shorter girl is taking off her robe, which revealed her figure with big breast.

'It's bigger than the blond one...'

They walked to take a sword each, then proceed to stand in the middle of the empty space.

The blond girl then moves her hand in air which makes it seem like she's pressing something.

Then a barrier suddenly formed from the ground, covering them inside.

'It is a spar field...'

Just as I thought.

But what I see next shocked me.

They're clashing so intensely that I can't follow their movement with my eyes.

All I can hear is the sound of swords clashing against each other.

And suddenly, they're both enveloped by auras.

'They're able to control mana!'

Not only they're able to control it, they're even covering their body with mana.

'Body Strengthening Technique...'

After covering their body with mana, their fighting style completely changed.

They started blocking some of the swinging with their bare hands.

'The mana is moving around their body...'

I observed their fight and realised that when the blonde's sword is about to hit the black haired girl's hand, the mana enveloping her body gathered in that hand which makes the aura surrounding it becomes more thick.

'I'll be able to do that in the future...'

I then took my attention off them and wrapped up my work out.

After that, I walked out of the gym to head back to the dorm.

"Hiyaaa"

"Oh no, you don't!"

The sword that I swung got blocked by my opponent's hand, which surprised me greatly.

We then stopped our spar, and I said with a smile

"Your mana control has improved a lot..."

The black haired girl in front of me then replied,

"Your technique is getting better as well, princess"

"Cecil! I told you not to call me princess when it's just me and you"

"There's another guy in the room, princess..."

We took a seat next to each other and after she said that, I looked around to find a guy is walking towards the gym door.

"Ohh.. I didn't even realise. Who's that?"

"No idea, I've never seen him before"

"Anyway, have you heard the rumour about a super talented genius with double S ranked aptitudes just enrolled to the academy yesterday? Headmistress Alice even personally accompanied him..."

"..."

"Not talkative as usual huh..."

I said with a sigh.

The black haired girl sitting next to me is an attendant of mine who's been by my side since I was a kid, Cecilia.

She's not just an attendant, but also serve as my bodyguard who's always ready to give her life should anything unexpected happen.

But I regard her as my most important friend who I've been the closest with.

'But the problem is that she took her duty too seriously...'

"Anyway now that it's just us two here, call me by my name!"

"Okay, princess Reyna"

"Drop the princess!"

"Got it, Reyna"

After that, I smiled and stood up.

"Okay that's better, let's continue sparring"

Cecilia then stood up after me and we continue sparring within the barrier.
