Josh's POV
I arrived at Justen's house to see Justen's dad waiting at the door for me. When Justen's dad sees me, he runs back inside and grabs someone before running to my truck. Justen's dad knocked on my window and I rolled it down.
"What's going on?" I asked.
"Justen overdosed on pills that I left in the bathroom," Justen's dad said.
Without a word, I got out of my truck, opened the back door, and helped put Justen in the back. Once Justen was in the backseat, Justen's dad went to the front passenger side and got in. I shut the door to the backseat and got into the driver's seat to drive Justen and his dad to the hospital.
"Do you know what has been up with Justen?" I asked as I drove.
"No, but I knew something was wrong with him," Justen's dad said.
"Did you try to talk to him?" I asked.
"No," Justen's dad said. "I never knew if Justen wanted to talk or not."
"Then don't give him an option," I said, stopping at a stop sign. "I know that you and Justen butt heads sometimes, but if you think he needs to talk, talk to him."
"I will," Justen's dad said as I turned right.
"Good, because right now, I have no idea what is up with Justen and it's scaring me," I said.
"Why?" Justen's dad asked.
"Because I don't know what I'd do without him," I admitted. "I'm also worried about his mental health."
"I know," Justen's dad said as I turned left down the road that leads to the hospital.
The last few minutes of the drive were silent. Finally, I arrived at the hospital and parked my truck near the entrance. Once my truck was in park and I turned it off, Justen's dad got out of the truck and went to get Justen. As soon as he had Justen, Justen's dad ran into the hospital with me following, after I had locked my truck anyway.
"I need help," Justen's dad said once he was in the hospital.
"What happened to him?" the lady behind the counter asked.
"He overdosed on pills that were in the bathroom and passed out," Justen's dad explained.
"Well, we'll see what we can do, but you have to wait to see a doctor," the lady said.
"But we need to see one now," I blurted, scared for Justen.
"Take your dad and brother and sit down," the lady snapped. "I will see if I can get you a doctor."
"He's not my brother, he is my boyfriend and I love him. Right now though, I am terrified for him," I said. "So please, hurry your ass up and find a doctor."
The lady glared at me before disappearing.
"I guess we'll have to sit down," Justen's dad said, sounding defeated.
"We can't just do nothing," I said.
"Right now that's all we can do," Justen's dad said.
I sighed. "Okay."
Justen's dad nodded and found us a place to sit.
We sat down and my eyes found Justen. I was scared for him and wanted to know what caused him to do what he did.
"Um... do you know what caused Justen to do what he did?" I asked.
"I think he's just been stressed lately," Justen's dad said.
"He could have talked to me about it," I said.
"Josh, I know you care about Justen and that you and him are back together, but there are some things you will never know about him," Justen's dad said.
"If I asked him, would he tell me?" I asked.
"Maybe," Justen's dad said. "But for now we have to stay strong and hope for the best."
"Excuse me, I'm looking for a father and his son," a doctor said. " I wasn't given a name but I heard the son had passed out."
"That's us," I said, jumping out of my chair.
Justen's dad got up and followed me and the doctor down the hallway.
"Can you help him? My son that is," Justen's dad said.
"I don't know what's wrong with him yet," the doctor said.
"He overdosed on pills in the bathroom," Justen's dad explained.
"How old is he?" the doctor asked, entering a room on his left.
"Seventeen," Justen's dad answered, entering the room behind the doctor.
I went to enter the room too but was stopped by the doctor.
"Only family," the doctor said.
"But...," I said.
"Go back to the waiting room. If he wakes up or we need you for something, we'll come and get you," the doctor said.
"Okay," I said. "When you decide to come and find me, my name is Josh."
"Okay, bye," the doctor said, entering the room and closing the door behind him.
I sighed and walked back down the hallway and into the waiting room.
