Justen's POV
It had been almost a week since Nathan and I talked about my and Josh's relationship. A week since I started cutting again. The conversation I had with Nathan really got me thinking so finally, I asked Josh if we could meet up and talk. Josh agreed and we met up at our special spot that looked over the pond.
I sat on my rock on the left of the oak tree until I heard footsteps. With a smile on my face, I jumped off my rock and went to greet who I thought was Josh. But as soon as I came face to face with them, I was dead wrong.
"So… this is where Josh goes to hang out," Josh's dad said.
"What are you doing here?" I spat.
"I'm here because I followed my son here. He's waiting in his truck right now though, probably texting you and telling you to be careful with me around," Josh's dad said.
"What do you want then?" I asked, wanting him to go away as soon as possible.
"I want to tell you a secret," Josh's dad said.
"A secret?" I asked.
"Yes, come close," Josh's dad said.
I took a step towards him. As soon as I did so and was close enough to him, Josh's dad grabbed ahold of my arms and shoved me towards the edge of the cliff.
"What the hell are you doing?!" I asked, shoving him back.
"What I came here to do," Josh's dad said before shoving me off the cliff.
I screamed in terror as I fell towards the pond. I had no idea how deep it was or how far the fall was. Right before I landed in the water though, I made sure my feet would touch first so the surface tension wouldn't severely injure me.
When I landed in the water, it was freezing. It didn't help that it was fall and the temperature was going down anyway. Not feeling any pain in my legs, I swam towards the surface. Once my face broke through the water, I saw Josh at the top of the cliff.
"Justen! Are you okay?!" Josh called down to me.
"I'm fine," I said. "At least I think I am."
"I'm coming to get you, start swimming towards the shore," Justen said before disappearing.
I followed his directions and swam towards the shore. Once the water was shallow enough to where I could stand, I did. Man, that pond was deeper than I thought it was. As soon as I reached the sandy shore, I saw a figure run towards me. I blinked and their arms were suddenly wrapped around me. Not saying a word, I hugged them back.
"I am so sorry," I finally said as we both let go.
"No, you don't have to be sorry," Josh said. "I should be the sorry one."
"Listen, I am so sorry I broke up with you," I said, beginning to talk fast. "I just had my dad beating me again and your father threatening to kill me and finally I couldn't take it so I was selfish and broke up with you."
Josh only stared at me.
"I can understand if you're mad or angry at me," I said, my voice was starting to break. "Last week when Nathan talked to me about you being mad, made my heart break. I am so sorry."
"I'm sorry too," Josh said. "I guess I was so mad that I didn't even want to listen to you and I just accused you of breaking up with me for no reason. Now that I've listened to you. I can understand why you did what you did. And that doesn't mean you're selfish. I am so sorry."
With those words, we were once again hugging. I was so glad I could finally talk to him again.
"Hey," Josh said, pulling away from the hug and placing his hand under my chin. "I missed you so much. Please don't ever do something like that again."
"I promise I won't," I said before lightly placing my lips on his.
Josh kissed me back and we stood there making out for a while until neither of us could breathe.
"Ready to go back to our special spot?" Josh asked.
"Yeah, but I've got a question for you first," I said.
"And what might that be, Justen?" Josh asked.
I looked at him before saying overdramatically, "Josh, would you do the absolute honor of being my boyfriend?"
"You're a dork," Josh laughed.
"That doesn't exactly answer my question," I said.
"Oh, Justen, most handsome of them all, I will do the honors of being your boyfriend," Josh said, almost as overdramatically as I asked him.
We both laughed before we walked back up the cliff hand in hand.
