Justen's POV
After I followed Josh on Instagram, I got a notification saying that he followed me back. I smiled and texted him.
J- Justen
j- Josh
J: Hey
My heart started pounding, what if he doesn't respond? Now I started panicking. Just then my phone went off. I looked and Josh responded with a "Hi". I smiled, all my nerves going away and he and I started conversing.
j: Hi
J: I had fun tonight, can we do it again tomorrow night?
j: Yeah, of course
Same place?
J: Yea
j: Sweet
J: What are you doing this weekend?
j: Unless my friends are staying the night, nothing. Why?
J: I was wondering if you just wanted to hang out tomorrow but if your friends are over I can leave you alone
j: No, I'll send them home tomorrow after school
We can hang out by the tree and maybe get some hot chocolate
J: That sounds like a plan to me
j: Great, I'll see you tomorrow then
J: See you tomorrow
I smiled and locked my phone. Looking at my clock and seeing that it was nine-thirty at night. Seeing that there wasn't anything else to do, I decided to call it a night and go to sleep. I quickly changed into my pj's, plugged my phone in, and laid down on my bed. Thoughts of Josh filled my mind as I drifted off to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I woke up the next morning and got dressed to get out of the house as soon as I possibly could. Once I got dressed, I grabbed my bag, my phone, and my sweatshirt before walking out of my house to see a truck. At first, I was confused at why there was a truck in the driveway, that is until I saw Josh in the driver's seat of the truck. Josh waved and motioned me to walk over to him. I followed his directions and walked over to the driver's side as Josh rolled the window down.
"What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I sent them away," Josh said.
"Your friends?" I asked.
"Yeah, it turns out they only came over to wrestle and stuff. I didn't want to wrestle with them so I faked an excuse and sent them home," Josh explained.
"Nice," I said. "So, what are you doing here?"
"I figured that since it is getting colder you'd like a ride to school," Josh said.
"I mean…," I said, trailing off and thinking about how mad my dad would be. "I don't see why not."
Josh grinned as I walked around the truck and to the passenger seat. I opened the truck door and hopped in.
"I hope you don't mind my little brother being in the back," Josh said, backing out of my driveway.
I looked back and saw a little boy sitting in the middle seat. He had dirty blonde hair like Josh but a little longer and bright blue eyes.
"Hi," I smiled at him.
"Hi," the little boy said shyly.
"Don't worry, I'm not mean or anything," I said.
The little boy smiled.
"My name's Justen, what's yours?" I asked.
"Michael," the little boy said.
"It's nice to meet you, Michael," I said.
"Nice to meet you too, Justen," Michael said. "It's finally good to be able to see who my brother talks about all the time."
"Michael," Josh said, a light blush crossing his face.
"So you talk about me?" I asked, turning to face Josh.
Josh's face was still bright red.
"Yeah, he talks about you all the time," Michael said.
"Alright, Michael, that's enough," Josh said.
I laughed. "What? Don't want your little brother spilling all your secrets?" I asked.
Michael laughed with me.
"Hey Michael, we're at your school," Josh said, changing the subject.
Michael sighed. "I don't wanna go," he said.
"C'mon bud," I said. "I'll walk you in."
"Justen, we're actually running a bit la-" Josh said.
"It's fine, I'll walk Michael into his school," I said, opening the truck door.
"Yay," Michael cheered.
I walked Michael up to his school doors and when he found his friends he ran off. Just as I was about to walk away, I heard someone running towards me. I turned around just in time for Michael to jump up into my arms and hug me.
"Have a great day, bud," I said before letting him out of the hug and watching him run towards his friends again.
I walked back to Josh's truck and hopped back into the passenger seat.
"So, did he go in?" Josh asked.
"Yeah," I said. "I even got a hug."
"A hug? I'm jealous," Josh said, sarcastically. "I've never gotten a hug before school."
"Haha," I said, sticking my tongue out at him.
Josh flipped me off.
"Hey, that's my thing," I laughed.
"Haha," Josh said, mimicking me.
I laughed and Josh did too.
"Alright, let's get going to our school or before we're really late," Josh said.
