As Jura fell, the audience, including the participating mages, collectively paused in shock. The arena fell silent.
No one had anticipated this outcome.
Despite the intense battle, everyone assumed that Zanpakutō was just a formidable mage who could hold his own against Jura. The idea that he could actually defeat Jura seemed far-fetched, and this sentiment was shared even among most members of Fairy Tail.
Not until Zanpakutō raised his fist in victory, everyone snapped out of their disbelief. The crowd cheered, showering the victorious summon with praise and admiration.
"This guy is unbelievably strong," Laxus said from the stands, a mix of tension and acknowledgment in his voice. He had just resolved to catch up to Calvin, but now Calvin's summon had effortlessly defeated a member of the Ten Wizard Saints without sustaining any damage.
"I couldn't have predicted this," Mirajane remarked, holding her face with admiration and surprise. Her expression radiated pride.
"What happened to him during these seven years?" Gajeel wondered aloud, a drop of cold sweat trickling down his face. Despite three months of rigorous training, Calvin's power display made his efforts seem insignificant.
"Who knows, but that immense magical power surely wasn't gained through normal training," Laxus replied calmly. He had known Calvin well. While Calvin had always had a good amount of magic power, it was never this overwhelming. Calvin's true strength had always been his strategic mind.
Now, his magical power had grown to an almost unreasonable extent.
"What should we do? Juvia is losing confidence. If even his summons are this strong, who could defeat Calvin himself? We're doomed to lose, and my wish... what about my wish?" Juvia lamented, causing the other B team members to tense up.
The impressive performance had almost made them forget their promise to Makarov when forming the B team. Initially reluctant to join the B team, they had been swayed by Makarov's words: the losing team would have to obey the winning team's every order for a day. Calvin contributed to both teams and was exempt from punishment or reward.
Now, Calvin's displayed strength was a towering obstacle.
"Don't worry too much. At most, Calvin can only get another ten points in the duels. Unless I face him, I can definitely win," Laxus stated confidently.
"Unless you face him? Laxus admitting he might not be as strong as Calvin?" This took aback Mirajane, surprised that the usually proud Laxus would concede.
As the match ended, members of Lamia Scale rushed out, with Lyon leading the way. Upon seeing Jura's wounds, he hesitated to move him and called out urgently, "Chelia, hurry!"
He then looked at Zanpakutō with a wary expression.
"Got it!" responded a lively, adorable girl who approached Jura. She touched his wounds, emitting a gentle glow that quickly healed him.
The healing was rapid, visibly restoring Jura's color. His injuries were not life-threatening but had caused significant blood loss.
"Healing magic of the sky? Besides Wendy, there's someone else who can use it?" Calvin observed through Zanpakutō, surprised. He hadn't heard of any other sky magic besides Dragon Slayer magic.
However, the girl's magical nature differed significantly from Wendy's, indicating it wasn't Dragon Slayer magic. It resembled Orga's magic from Sabertooth and another mage from Grimoire Heart's Seven Kin of Purgatory who used black flames.
"Oh! It's God Slayer magic! No wonder, it's even higher-ranked than Dragon Slayer magic," Calvin quickly deduced, deep in thought.
"Dragon Slayer magic is designed to counter dragons, so God Slayer magic is meant to combat gods? If it's more advanced than Dragon Slayer magic, does that mean it could also counter dragons?"
"Maybe God Slayer magic can defeat Acnologia..."
"Dragon Slayer magic can be learned either directly from dragons or by implanting dragon lacrima. How is God Slayer magic learned? Surely there aren't gods teaching humans... or is there a god lacrima?"
Calvin vividly remembered how other magics, except physical attacks, had been ineffective against Acnologia in their last encounter. After waking from seven years of sleep, he had become increasingly interested in magics that could alter one's constitution.
He had a hunch that he might face Acnologia again in the future.
To prepare, he needed to consider Dragon Slayer and God Slayer magics as potential options.
"Hey, Calvin, time to go," a voice interrupted Calvin's thoughts.
Snapping back to reality, Calvin saw his teammates ready to leave. The audience was also dispersing; the first day of the Grand Magic Games had concluded.
"The Master wants us to celebrate our victory at the tavern. Don't space out."
"Alright, let's go," Calvin nodded, following his team out of the venue to a discreet tavern in the capital for a grand celebration.
Meanwhile, in the Grand Magic Games' designated rest area, Charle, caring for Wendy, experiences a vision through her foresight ability, revealing an unsettling scene.
Her face turned pale with fear, which Porlyusica quickly noticed.
"What's wrong? You look terrified," Porlyusica asked.
"Sometimes I can see glimpses of the future. I just saw something really bad," Charle replied, sweating and shaken.
"Oh, that's the power of an Edolas Exceed. So, what did you see?" Porlyusica asked, her expression serious, knowing this ability's accuracy.
Charle trembled as she recalled the vision.
"A white knight, a giant magic circle..."
"And?" Porlyusica pressed.
"And... a collapsing castle, Lucy chanting something... and finally, Calvin fighting a powerful enemy, covered in blood!"
