Ch.7 Road to Almarion (Part 3: Death spirit Ema)

"WHy DiD YOu LiVE??!!!" the death spirit howled.

The form of this spirit, gray haired woman in her late teens, was making even the people who were up until now celebrating their victory, scared for their lives.

"We might just picked a fight with someone we shouldn't..."

"Kuu!" Aku agreed with me in low trembling voice.

"Let's see what we can do. Mossy use (Nature's gift)!"

"Mos!" The palms of Mossy glowed as he answeared and broke into run towards us.

But at the same time, the death spirit flew towards me as well.

"Aku use (Flame wall)!"

A wall made from pure flames cut of the death spirit and gave Mossy time to reach us. He placed his palms on my heart and Aku's back. In that moment the light from his palms seeped out and flew right into us.

"Great, now we can use [Beast assimilation] again."

"Flaaaaake!" Mika jumped over the frighten knights, while taking a magic swords of two knights and run towards us.

"Mika what are you doing here?! It's dangerous!" I scowled at Mika and tried to get her back behind walls.

"That's my question!" she flicked my forehead while pouting, "I'm your wife so of course I would be by my husbands side. These swords can absorb magic so you can use them in that weird combination skill of yours."

"It's not that weird," I smiled at her as I was ignoring the howls of death spirit from the other side of the fire wall.

"You look like a demon. Although... it have some charm," Mika blushed a little.

"Are those two for real?! Flirting before such a powerful enemy?" one weak voice reached our ears and we had to laugh a little.

"Okay, I will summon Ricca and then we will start the fight. Mika stay close to Mossy and try to hit it as much as you can with your holy arrows. Mossy you keep her safe and prepare another (Nature's gift). The chances of getting another cooldown elimination is low, but we have to try that."

"Yeah," Mika nodded to my plan.

"[Beast assimilation] [Summon Ricca]."

"Whoa, master you looks weird," Ricca got surprised by my current form.

"Yeah, yeah. Keep it calm. There is Death spirit over there. You gave some holy magics?"

"I learned (Golden shine) when my crest changed. But I never used it so I don't know it's power."

"(Golden shine) is a spell that blinds the oponents for ten seconds. The recharge is three. It deals same amount of damage to undead beings as the users level," Mika suplemented the information.

"Okay, I will try it out!" Ricca clenched her fists and readied her sword and shield.

"Let's go!"

I lowered the flame wall and shot three fireballs through it right after spotting the death spirit.

"HAtE YoU!! KilL YOu!!" the death spirit howled.

I charged my two swords with magic and blocked the incomming claws of the death spirit.

The blow was so heavy that it made me sunk a little into ground, amking crated under my feets in the process.

In that moment an arrow pierced the head of the death spirit from the side.

"Don't you dare to touch my husband!!" Mika screamed out and shot another arrow. This time piercing her shoulder.

The spirit broke into run towards Mika.

"(Golden shine)!!" Ricca jumped in with her sword at ready using her new spell.

"mY eYeS!!! HaTE yoU!!! KilL YOu!!!" the spirit howled again, but I was already next to it and I delivered a double slash from a spin, which made the spirit flew back solid ten meters.

"Let's finish this!"

"(Golden holy arrow)!!"

"(Golden shine)!!!"

"(Fireball barricade)!"

We send our spells and all hit the spirit.

It took some time until the dust started to settle down.

"I hate you Milo..." the spirit's weak voice could still be heard.

In that moment my assimilation broke again and Aku fell asleep instantly due to lack of stamina. I still had the swords charged with magic from our assimilation, but without protection from fire their usability was greatly diminished.

I was ready for a fight, but the spirit was also greatly weaken. It could barely move and even as it was getting near us, it was impossible for it to hurt us.

When the spirit got right before us, it lifted it's face.

"You... are not Milo... good," the girl smiled softly and fainted on the spot.

"Hey... was that... really a Death spirit?" Ricca asked.

"To me, it looked more like a possesion. I mean, ghosts don't have physical bodies after all."

I went to the ground and touched the girls head.

"She's deffinitely a Death spirit, but she's not normal death spirit."

"What do you mean?"

"I used a monster apprisal on her and her race is said to be Half-ghost."

"You mean like the people from underground city Lastela?" Mika asked while knowing well that I don't know a single thing about that town.

Later Mika told us that many years ago a woman in this city died in collapse of one shaft. When they found her body later, her unborn baby was floating next to her mothers corpse as an Half-ghost. It was said that the people of the city took care of the child and when the girl reached fifteen years, she recieved a crest.

"Anyway the reason why I'm saying she's not a normal Death spirit is becouse she has skills that makes her resemble one."

"Does that mean... she's a necromancer?"

"Yeah, that's her crest."

"That's bad... if an existence of Half-ghost who can use Necromancy became public knowledge, the other half-ghosts will be hunted. Even now they are treated as half monsters," Ricca shuddered.

"So, the question is, should I make her my summon or not?"

"Do it. She can't be too much younger then us so we should protect her for the time being. She can do her own desicion if she wants to stay or go some where after she gets better," Mika nodded.

I activated the summoning ritual and flow my mana into her. By doing that, her body started materializing. When I used monster apprisal again her race read [Ghost 10%]. Wonder what brought that change.

"Anyway, welcome aboard, miss Ema."
