CHAPTER 21: RODNEY’S INVESTIGATION

I knew she was just joking. That she married me because I’m a millionaire.

But like a wounded sprinkled with salt, I felt her words stinging me as it reminded me our current situation. And somehow, it infuriates me.

We’re barely talking for a whole week as I go to lengths to avoid interaction with her except when necessary. And she treats me with the same indifference that I’m treating her with. Like she said before, she’s like a mirror. She reflects what I show her.

She is obviously a clever woman. And I cannot ascertain which among her actions are calculated and which are genuine. Sometimes, it frustrates me. I want to crack her but I don’t know how.

I glanced at my watch. It’s been a while since I came up, but Mira is still downstairs. What’s taking her so long? Is she really enjoying her food that much?

Or is she enjoying that guy’s company?

The thought irritated me and I found myself pacing the room.
