‘‘I believe that my wife should’ve introduced you to me before…’’ I took a calming deep breath as Raphael went on. ‘‘So that I could thank you earlier for guiding and teaching her to do her job properly. But my wife is a very smart woman, and I know that even though you’re not around, she can do her work perfectly…’’

I didn’t know how to react to that compliment Raphael had thrown at me, but I was aware that it was more of mocking Chosen rather than praising me.

On the other hand, I loved the way Chosen managed to handle him, because his expression had been constant since Raphael joined us. He was still smiling, and didn’t seem to be affected by Raphael’s words.
