Chapter 19 JOB HUNTING

I decided to look for a job. A really decent job. As a result of my experience working in that illegal casino, I don’t believe that I would ever be able to work in an environment like that again.

I forwarded resumes to various companies searching for office workers, but none of them called me. I've also tried applying to establishments looking for baristas, or waitresses, but I still haven't had any luck getting a call.

I was losing hope. The idea of asking Raphael to help me apply to the company where he worked also came to my mind. I heard that his salary was low in comparison to that of other firms, but it was definitely better than nothing at all.

After I had finished cleaning the dishes that I had used for dinner, I slowly walked up the stairs. Raphael recently got home. He told me earlier in the dining room, where he saw me eating alone, that he had already eaten outside with his boss. He just drank a glass of cold water before he walked up into his room.
