The mines had been abandoned long ago, a consequence of the invasion that had taken place decades past. They were expansive, carved deep beneath the rugged mountain range.

The mines had been forced out of operation due to the relentless onslaught of demons during the invasion.

These malevolent creatures had infested the mines, using them as their dark, hidden dens.

After the invasion had ended, efforts were made to cleanse and secure the area around the city, but the risks associated with delving deeper into the mines to eradicate any remaining danger were deemed too great.

The cost and effort required to ensure the safety of the team from the lurking demons outweighed the potential benefits of fully exploring and clearing the mines.

"This is it," remarked the knight who had guided the team through the forest to the mine.

They stood atop a wide hill that opened up to reveal the entrance of the abandoned mines, casting an eerie sight in the broad daylight.
