Knowledgeable butler

"Could you remind me of what I said previously?" asked Polemi with a deadpan look and tone as she sat in a chair.

"You said that you were worried about what would happen today" answered Kathikon from the get go, standing next to his master with his back as straight as one could.

"Do you think my worries were warranted?" she then asked.

"Very much miss" he answered without hesitation.

"..." the miss stayed silent as she watched the abundance of people she had absolutely never seen before but apparently knew her perfectly well and since Polemi wasn't a fan of parties, her parents had prepared it in secret, as if they were revolutionaries plotting an attack on a bridge in a basement during the night.

Thus, nothing was to her taste, apart from the food, at least she had her trusty butler with her, he was always around, she had learned very quickly that he was always close by and that even if he wasn't he would get here quick, very quick.

"Say, how fast do you think you could lure some big monster to cancel this party?" she asked, not thinking too much about doing it but a still thinking about it a little.

"About two hours, I would say" casually responded Kathikon.

"Mmmh" she thought about it for a moment, found herself considering it before realising that it might be a bit extreme.

"Kathikon, cast an illusion and get us out of here" she ordered as she leaped to her feet.

The butler executed the order without a speck of hesitation even though it clearly wasn't the greatest of ideas, in a few moments, a book appeared out of thin air, a cube surrounded the both of them, casting the image that they hadn't moved at all, as they both walked away, invisible to the people in the room.

Once outside and at a safe distance from the awful party that was going on, the invisiblilty spell was undone by Kathikon.

"Alright, Kathikon, help me find something to do, I didn't think about that part" said Polemi, there wasn't much to do in this place afterall, especially when you were running away from a social event.

"All I can think of is a small explanation of the training regiment prepared for you" answered the butler.

"You already did that multiple times, you know a lot of stuff don't you?" she asked.

"Tell me a story, a real story not the ones you make up" she demanded as she started walking through the hallway.

"A long time ago, a nameless devil was sealed into the plane known has 'hell' by a nameless hero, some say that the devil was originally an angel and other say that it is god, due to its defeat, it can no longer exist on any other plane than hell and all of his offsprings and himself were cursed with a bane toward holiness, it is said that unholiness came into being when the nameless devil created it and spread it to the other planes, including it into the system, believing that, maybe one day, the unholiness would completely eradicate the holy and break his curse as well as his seal" narrated the butler as he followed behind his master.

"I feel like a lot of elements of this story are missing or don't make sense" said the miss.

"It is but a story of an ancient time, it may have simply been made up to attempt to explain the existence of devils" explained the butler.

The butler's master brought her hand to her chin in thought, wondering what question she should ask next, she didn't usually have a lot of time to question him on his knowledge that he had learned from an unknown source.

"Say, how many magic elements are there?" she asked, even though magic wasn't usually associated with the army much as most of the higher rankings are specialised in combat without much use of it as competent mages didn't fall from the sky and that most of them usually did their own things or joined a tower as they were called.

However, Kathikon had taught her much about magic on top of everything else and had managed to get competent teachers, it was no secret that he had probably kidnapped their families and threatened them as he had directy told her when asked but no clue remained of such things.

"That is quite the mystery miss, magic elements are very numerous, they ranged from the very common four elements to obscure or oddly specific ones, such as salt water or stellar magic, elements have no limits and it has been proven that the system had elements whenever something new is introduced, if one were to invent a completely new weapon, the system would had an element corresponding to that specific weapon" spoke the butler, Polemi was getting very interested despite her butler dead tone of voice.

"It's simple, in magic anything is achievable in theory, someone can produce a fireball without the coresponding afinity to fire, having an afinity helps in avery aspect of the process but if one really wants to make a fireball despite not having the afinity, they can just add more mana to the fireball, however for it to give a satisfactoy result, it would be much better to have the corresponding afinity" continued Kathikon.

"It could be compared to lockpicking in a way, if you have specifically made tools and already have experience in lockpicking, you will be able to open a door in a few moments, a strong man without the tools can still open the door by bashing his body against it until it opens but the door is most likely broken, the man hurts himself while doing that and it takes longer and ore efforts to arrive at the same result as the person with the tools" he then concluded with a little metaphor.

"As I said before, anything is possible in magic, that is because anything is possible with the system, one can theorically get as many affinities from the system as possible or someone may be born with a powerful skill from the start and another may be unable to use the system, in the end, relying on the randomness of the system is futile, the best way to get what you want is by working for it" he then added afterwards.

"I am certain that you will be able to get what you wish for thanks to your mindset miss" he said, he sounded like he was just being encouraging to his master but he was actually speaking a pure fact.
