All of the stuff I put here I have looked up and from what I understand is what I write down on the chapter some of it may be incorrect but as far as I know it is correct
general
Research and development-Assuming your MC is a reincarnator he could get a group of intelligent and inventive people together ex Masters and the like a blacksmith or such people I'm pretty much give them modern ideas since MC can't always know everything normally basically have them figure out how to make things work basically the MC is the idea guy for example if you explain to them the Basic concept of a steam engine they might be able to workout how to actually build it
Bloomery Blast Furnace & Bessemer- are great for Iron and steel production one of the hardest things for that is getting the temperature high enough to make Steel which I believe I have covered later on in this chapter about watermills and windmills there are many rivers all over Westeros and in the Veil with their high mountains windmills would be extremely useful to operate the bellows which increases the oxygen and makes the fire hotter
Folding steel- as many know in Japanese sword making and Damascus steel folding steel over and over while Heating and beating it makes a stronger steel for a sword I do not believe they do this in got/asoiaf as far as I know they only make steel then pour into molds polish then sharpen for steel Swords I believe they fold steel around 32 times for Damascus steel but I am not sure exactly on that number(It would be very easy for a main character to get this done by easily suggesting an experiment our doing the experiment themselves for instance if you have a noble MC him asking their lord father to have the castle blacksmith to folding steel over and over as an experiment/indulging the child)(puppy dog eyes) If a sword is too expensive for the house a knife will do to prove the theory
Whale hunting- the only people in got/asoiaf that I know hunt whales are the people of IB but whales as far as I know live in all oceans assuming planetos is just like our world the sunset sea would be a perfect place to hunt whales not only is whaling a profitable business for oil leather whalebone and Ambergris which is from the intestines'of sperm whales to make perfume but it also can feed a great many people check coolantarctica.com for more info
mechanical advantage-cranes and winches -now this is due to me re-reading Maester Wolf which is on fanfiction but I did realize that pretty much all of planetos doesn't use almost any mechanical advantage by mechanical advantage save for maybe 1 pulley what i mean is the more pulley Wheels you have in a mechanical contraption the less load on you and more load on the machine there is. so take a crane for an example every time you add a pulley wheel in the opposite direction it takes another load off the person or animal power in the machine and puts it on the machine frame and rope. This also brings up another thing which is the ball bearing system which is another albeit hard to use mechanical advantage it would be nice something to add. Now this one I'm not so sure about because they had windmills and water Mills to grind there wheat but I think they just use two big gears instead of using the power transfer of a big gear to a smaller gear so pretty much what I'm saying is you also may be able to use different gears to get mechanical advantage as well
Interrogation- now in medieval times usually think of someone beating the crap out of the person or Sharp metal instruments being used but most people forget that since you're no longer in the modern world where things like torture are legal a lot of people forget that waterboarding he's a very low-tech but highly effective torture and interrogation tool pretty much all you need to do is put the person on a board invert them put a wet cloth over their face tightly and pour water on it slowly you have to make sure that you do not accidentally kill the person because you can actually suffocate someone like this but it is highly effective and torturous hence why it is illegal in the modern world
Standing army or guard Patrols-This would probably be a good idea to implement in your territory for security Plus if you do standing army or Guard Patrol you can have them double as a pony express type of Mail system where they deliver letters and small packages to Villages towns and cities This may help offset the cost of said Patrol and armies by charging a small fee
It also gives you a reason to teach you're small folk to read and write
Crime and punishment -now I know when you think of punishment especially for a lot of medieval fanfics you've pretty much goes straight to the wall hanging beheading or the like now that being said if you're looking at it from a practical standpoint its a waste for a lot of less violent crimes I would seriously suggest having them pretty much work it off a couple of examples are if the man knows to count read and write you can have him teach the small Folk for free till the end of his days in some extreme punishments. for people without a trade you can pretty much assign them to a village as the general worker that does not get paid only fed basic necessities until the end of his life or his sentence depending on his crimes I would say though for the violent once yeah I would definitely hang or decapitate
Concrete and cement- concrete and cement come in many forms one of the most ancient being Roman concrete which is pretty much lime stone and volcanic ash I know one form of concrete uses pretty much broken down rocks into fine powder which can be done by a water wheel and some from of mill using stone or metal
Roads- now this goes with what you just read up above because to do it properly you're going to need either concrete or cement so the roads last and you're not coming back every year this would be a great way to Curry favor with your local Lords and increased trade it goes double if you have a port in your lands and they do not whether it be from not being able to build one or being Inland without a river connecting to the Sea here are two ways I would think you could go about this whether you have a team of builders build the roads yourself or you hire them out to your local Lords. this would also allow you to establish a road Network that would be in put in the favor from the lords connected to it. example if you have two towns or major keeps one further than the other and you build a road from your town that has a port to the first town and then build another road from that town to the further away town both Lords would definitely be happy from the increased trade and ability to get products from the port
The Cotton gin-a very simple machine but very useful pretty much it is 2 rolling pins on a frame tightly put together with just enough room to allow the cotton to pass
with one of them being routable and rotate 1 to pass the cotton through the rollers and removes the seeds of the cotton plant which I've been told take forever to do by hand it is actually the hardest part of doing cotton before the cotton gin
Printing press- the printing press would be a very good idea I know a lot of people argue that the Citadel and the faith would be up in arms about it but there are several ways you can go about this one you could do it yourself witch I could understand that argument another idea would be to try to sell it to the Citadel the faith or both 4 favors or a small percentage of sales To be honest with you if you're selling it to them you don't actually even need to do all the legwork by making a working machine all you really need to do is sell them the concept
food-many different Cuisines around are world would sell very well Pizza the hamburger and many others from different walks of life that aren't too difficult to make mozzarella ricotta cheese are very easy to make so is a lot of vinegars for example
Yogurt is actually a good ideas well it's easy to make especially if you start with the the 1st Primitive method the first yogurt was thought to be made by milk store in animal stomachs that were used for pouches while transporting the milk the milk curdled in the heat and turned into yogurt you can also once you make the first batch that way you can use it to make more by boiling milk and adding yogurt to it
Alcohol- alcohol in many fanfics as been used and it is usually a pretty tried-and-true Money Maker for most the reincarnated that being said a lot of times they'd never bring up the point of what they do with the leftover fermented Mash now I if I remember correctly you can use this for livestock and it is actually very good if you consistently feed them this it gives the meat a good distinct flavor it also make the process have almost no waste
the four crop rotation system
updating Farming tools- remember in got/asoiaf it's pretty much been medieval times which if they have a plow or any other type of farming tools are most likely the most primitive form of them and a lot of other tools that do not even exist
update blacksmithing tools and metals- stainless steel would be great because of the anti-corrosive properties of this alloy which most tools become useless and breakdown because of improper storage and corrosiveness blast Furnaces to make fast and good quality steel are also an excellent idea
soap-making soap is pretty simple it's pretty much boiled fat and you add lye to water and then pour it in during the boiling process then let it cool down -plus soap making can produce dynamite when the tallows harden you skim-off a layer of glycerine, If you were to add nitric acid, you got nitroglycerine, If you were to add sodium nitrol(A common food preservative back in the day) and a dash of sawdust you got dynamite,
festivals or tourneys if done right it should be a positive influence on the economy and a moneymaker not a sinkhole
Seafood I've heard of people doing fishing in got. I have not heard of anyone doing trapping for crab lobsters shrimp and such
true north
logging operation if they can make contact for someone to help them like brovos or start building their own ships
north
heating-ondol heating Is it traditional Korean heating system four houses basically you start a fire I believe outside that sits lower than your house and house is slightly raised this Raised house sits on a stone or cement slab The house uses radiant heat bye treating the underneath of the house like air ducts and a chimney is built on the other side that is slightly raised so it is the only way for hot air to escape Another heating method this is more for agricultural would be to combine geothermal heating and solar heating (Solar heating is using the sun to heat Example would be green houses or in asoiaf glass Gardens geothermal heating is once you dig down far enough the temperature of a soil does not really change much) basically you make a large pit and create a glass Dome( Double pane glass would be better for anyone who does not know what double-paned is it's two pieces of glass with air in between for better insulation) over said pit and grow things in the pit being trees or vegetables
Skis and sleds-Skis should be pretty easy to make and will make it much easier to get around in snow instead of them being trapped. it's pretty much two boards shaped in a particular way with the end in the front pointing slightly up I believe it also is waxed on the bottom with some straps on the top and 2 sticks with a sharp point at the end With a circular guard 2 inch's from the end to push off with. sleds I can't imagine being very hard to make and if you can find Huskies or some form of dog like that you can have a dog sled for transporting people and goods
Igloos- this should not be very hard It's more of a matter how quickly you can do it and how well you want to do it for a temporary or semi-permanent home pretty much all it is is either cutting out ice blocks or making a compact of snow and eventually forming a dome with a opening in the front throughout the process when you're living in it from your body heat slightly melts the snow and then refreeze is it making it a very solid and insulated structure I have read that experienced people doing this can do it a hour and a inexperienced person can take up to six hours or more
Travel- roads and the use of the rivers would be an excellent way to increase trade in the North but as far as I know they really do not use them or have the infrastructure set up for that. I am not saying to set up a huge Road Network that spans the north but if you use the rivers in conjunction with a road Network you will see that the rivers like white knife run through most of the north and there's a couple other ones that run through most of the rest of the North if you can use the rivers with small ports and a road Network you could pretty much reach the whole North
making wooden musical instruments- Pianos violins and guitars are probably one of the best things to make
making and selling wooden Furniture with Unique Designs do to the long Winters should be a thing to do to make money in the downtime
the ice trade-Pretty much this is very simple you just need insulated boxes and possibly insulated ships to transport ice down south which they would pay astronomical amounts for in summer as a luxury item for cooling their drinks and themselves as well as if they invest in an ice cellar for a form of food preservation
Crops-there are many specific crops that are excellent for cold weather now so far i know they have not really explained too much in what they eat and grow in got/asoiaf but I would imagine since the lack of exploring and experimenting here is a list of crops-vegetable-Beets
Carrots/Turnips/Radishes/Cabbage/Collards/Kale/Spinach/Swiss chard/Arugula/Broccoli/Cauliflower/Kohlrabi/Potatoes/Fava Beans even Brussel sprouts which is a superfood can withstand short bouts of cold weather now I don't know about you but that's quite a bit of food that can grow in cold climates
birch tree syrup and maple syrup- the sap actually flow better in the cold (so i have been tolled)to make it you simply just boil it down and then bottle it
survey and mining
paper
rice- it should grow the neck and the neck is very big so It could feed the North and make many products
riverlands
rice and beans- the rice and soybeans can made it into a variety of products plus rice if stored correctly almost never goes bad rice has a have a high shelf life as well beans evidently they need both a very wet environment and warm to germinate in the soil
the vale
windmills would be a tremendous help power just about anything due to the mountains and high wind speeds
crownlands
westerland's
making metal musical instruments due to the gold and silversmiths and the metal work the westerlands does
stormlands
rebuilding summer hall
the reach
food is extremely abundant here due to the perfect climate for many food it would be very easy to make a food Revolution starting new restaurants and pubs all the different kinds of drinks and foods you can make or grow new Food as well
Dorne
glass sand is the main ingredient and dorne has lots of it
agave which grows well in desert climates Fibres can be extracted from the leaves of this plant and used for rope, matting and coarse cloth can be used as a sweetener. tequila is also made from agave
salt if you fill a dark colored shallow pool with seawater in an environment like Dorne it'll evaporate and we will have sea salt
dried food Dorne is pretty much I like a natural oven if you start doing spice Blends or dehydrated food packets it could make dorne a lot of money( pretty much add a jar or pouch to boiling water and you got a hearty soup) would sell well to armies Travelers and the North
