Steins;Gate— The Singularity

"Shit! Shit! Shit!" I cursed as I took cover behind a car.

**Bang!** (Gunshots!)

Suddenly, a bullet went through the glass window of the car I was hiding behind. It passed just above my head. I was so scared I nearly pissed myself.

"Fuck! Can these people go elsewhere? I'm gonna die here!"

You may be wondering what the hell is happening. I can enlighten you about what happened earlier.

A few minutes earlier, I was just walking past this road like everyday thinking about what I would eat for dinner. But as I was passing by a house, I suddenly heard loud gunshots just right behind me!

Now here I am hiding behind this car by the pathwalk. Just as I was thinking about how I'll leave this place safely, I suddenly heard a loud voice.

["All of you have been surrounded! The police has sealed off any possible escape routes! So I would like you all to surrender to keep the minimal casualties!"]

"The police?" It seems like they are on an operation. I just have to fucking get caught in the middle of it! I bit my lower lip in frustration as I planned my way to escape.

If what the police said was true, then I could go to those check points and seek help. But how would I go there without getting caught by criminals? If I ever get caught, they would hold me hostage.

Racking my brain to think of a plan, a few minutes passed before I thought up of a passable one. Although it's not fail proof, it's better than the rest I thought up of.

Steeling my mind, I peeked from my position and saw that there's no one. Taking advantage of the current situation I ran to the alleyway like my life depended on it, cause it is.

Once I was at the alleyway, I looked around cautiously. Only when I didn't see anyone around did I sigh in relief. I then continued to run towards the closest checkpoint.

As I ran, I heard the police sirens closer and closer to me. When I was just about a hundred feet away from the checkpoint, that was when someone shouted at me.

"Hey you! Stop if you don't want bullets in yo ass!"

I looked back and saw four people with guns on them. I was shocked when I saw one of them because he was one of my neighbors.

He also noticed that it was me so he went to the front and said, "Joshua! Come with me and I won't kill you!"

I didn't listen. As soon as I heard him I immediately sprang up and ran away.

**Bang** (Gunshots!)

That was when I felt a hot feeling in my chest. I felt air leaving my lungs as I tried to muster a word.

"Wha—?"

I fell face first to the cold hard floor. As I laid there bathing in my own blood waiting for death to take me, I heard bits of their voices. I felt my vision fading as my body slowly went cold.

If there's an afterlife, I wanna be in a peaceful place.

". . ."

**Boom!** **Bang!***

The fireworks created a symphony of sounds as they exploded in the night sky.

"Hmm? What's wrong Rukako? You look pale," A young man dressed in a lab coat draped over a plain light gray t-shirt with khaki colored slacks.

"Don't tell me—?! You have been possessed by an evil spirit?! How can a shrine maiden priestess be possessed?!"

I shook my head slowly and put my chaotic thoughts to the back of my mind. I then answered naturally.

"Nothing, Okabe-san. I just found the fireworks really beautiful." I said with a small smile.

"I-Is that so? Well they are beautiful." Okabe said as he looked back towards the fireworks in the night sky.

". . ."

It's 1 AM in the morning. I just got home and I dragged my tired body to the bed. As soon as I laid down, I immediately thought about earlier.

During the fireworks show earlier, memories suddenly came flooding in my brain. They are memories of my past life. I don't know what triggered it, but these memories had significance to me as it contained information about this world.

"An anime character huh? Though why do I have to be a trap?"
