Meanwhile, back in Elias' office.
Elias was resting his head against a wall, staring out of the window with a contemplative look on his face. He couldn't help but wonder how the hell he was going to face Raphael. He hadn't met the man in more than a decade, and he wasn't sure how the man would react on seeing him.
He would be lying if he said he didn't think of Raphael from time to time, though. Well, maybe a little more often than occasional. Just because they broke up and went their separate ways didn't mean he wasn't still somewhat fond of him. He wasn't so sure what he was supposed to say to him after more than a decade, though. 'Hi, how've you been?'
He groaned, leaning his head against the glass window. Ugh...was he an idiot? Obviously he's not good, he had a cardiac arrest! Okay, so maybe not 'how have you been'.
Maybe a 'how are you feeling?'. Yes, that could work. It was a fitting question for a doctor to ask their patient. So that's what he did.
"How are you feeling?" He said as soon as he entered the room.
Raphael was still leaning against the pillows, his eyes closed. But his eyes slowly opened at the sound of a voice. He lifted his gaze...and all sense of thought in his brain vanished in an instant. His eyes widened.
Wait. Wait. Wait a God damn minute- He was dreaming. Right? He was sure there was no way in hell he was seeing who he THOUGHT he was seeing. But no, it was definitely his ex-boyfriend standing there in the flesh.
His eyes travelled over the doctor's form, taking it in. He'd grown out his hair. The last time he remembered, it was a little above shoulder length. He couldn't help but think the long locks looked...beautiful, on him. He hadn't realized how much he'd missed seeing that face until now.
The slender built. The blonde hair almost the colour of molten gold, tied into a ponytail. The sharp, almost aristocratic yet delicate features. He couldn't help but think the same thing he had thought mant of times before in the past...he still looked like an angel.
Raphael's thoughts got a little more..descriptive, as his mind wandered down an inappropriate alley- he couldn't help but remember the feeling of those slender hips underneath his hands as his eyes traced down the other's body- no. Stop.
Raphael mentally shook himself when he realized he was staring. Seeing Elias again, after so long...it did things to his heart rate. And he was sure the man would see, if he were to glance at the monitors.
Elias, on the other hand, had seen the way his eyes had roamed his body. His body started to feel warm. Was this guy undressing him with his eyes? Seriously? But that was so... Raphael. And it's not like he's not guilty of doing that either. Though he didn't need to do it by his eyes, since Raphael was, well, undressed in the OT. He looked like he was still sticking to his workout regime, because those abs certainly didn't look like it's been a decade- He internally slapped himself. 'What happened to being professional, you idiot? He's your patient! Even if he's got the body of a pornstar and the face and mannerisms of a prince- stop!'
He wanted to laugh at himself and slap himself at the same, but forced the feeling down.
"I'm alright." Raphael replied finally, "Just kinda sore, Dr Kang, I'm guessing?" He mumbled, pushing aside his reminiscing thoughts and instead, keeping his expression neutral.
Elias swallowed silently, shoving his hands in his pockets. Pretending not to know each other, were they? Well, two can play a game. He kept his expression neutral too, and smiled politely.
"That'll be me. And you are Mr..." He paused, pretending to look at the documents attached to his board, even though he already knew the lawyer's name. "...Mr Morgan?"
Raphael couldn't help but feel something warm coil in his stomach at the sound and sight of Elias saying his name. But he kept his face impassive. "Yes. Raphael Morgan." He answered.
Elias nodded, a polite smile on his lips. He hummed softly under his breath,
"Well, Mr Morgan, how are you feeling after the surgery?" He asked, feigning nonchalance. Oh god, this was ridiculous.
Raphael shifted on his bed, sitting up and crossing his legs comfortably under the covers. His limbs were aching from being unconscious for 2 days, but he didn't let it show on his face. He leaned back against the pillows and lifted a hand, running it through his messy dark hair. He was aware of Elias's eyes following the movement, watching as his hair fell back into his eyes.
Raphael looked up at the doctor from under his lashes, his lips curved into a small smirk. "I suppose I'm fine, doctor" he replied, his voice a low rasp, with a slight drawl to it.
"... That's good." Elias hummed, heaving an internal sigh. The 'doctor', from his mouth, had no right to sound so...so...ugh.
Raphael tilted his head to the side slightly. He smirked, watching Elias's reaction to his voice. He had always known that low, slightly raspy tone did things to Elias. He was never shy to mention it during their... Moments, after all.
He ran his gaze over the doctor, taking in his appearance once again. This time though, he wasn't being subtle about it. He blatantly checked out Elias's lean body, his gaze lingering at the slender hips.
Elias, who was aware of the other man's gaze on him, shifted on his feet, feeling warm. Goddammit. He'd forgotten just how intense Raphael's stare is. He swallowed, trying to ignore the way it was making him feel. The way it was making his heart beat in his ribcage like he ran a goddamned marathon.
Raphael smiled, leaning back against the pillows, almost lazily. He smirked and couldn't help but want to feel the slender fingers in his again. He wanted to do a lot more, to be exact...but yes. It'll have to do for now.
"Won't you give me a check-up, doctor?"
