Colby’s body against his felt cold, because that shirt was stylish, not cozy. That music choice was—though definitely approved of by them both—more his usual than Colby’s. And Colby had made dinner again, having it waiting.

Colby hadn’t moved from the circle of Jason’s arms, eyes big and blue and sweet. “How was this one? Not too frustrating, I hope.”

“It was fine. Talked about you, the movie, liking history. Then they took a lot of pictures of me wearing fake glasses and looking through books—some comic books, too, that was cool—and also lifting a sofa and chairs for some reason. I think they said we were aiming for, like, muscles but domestic. Less action hero, more guy who can move your furniture around and then read to you.”

“I can’t wait to see the results. Books and muscles and domesticity…it sounds very much like you.”

“Kinda, yeah.” He stroked an escape-artist wave of hair away from Colby’s left eye. “You okay?”
