Jason’s family had also called. They’d been elated and clamoring and riotous. Jason had been part of the news story, albeit in a sideways fashion: Colby Kent, recently confirmed as in a relationship with Jason Mirelli, and so on. Jason’s sister had made quite a lot of high-pitched noises over the phone and shrieked something about the plot of a Colby Kent fanfic she’d once read, or possibly written, with him being an author in an alternate universe. Jason had got very red and abashed about this. Colby had listened, begun to smile, and asked, “Is it something about me that seems to suggest I’m a writer, then? Is it the calligraphy? The daydreaming? I know I do that on occasion, especially in the rain. May I read it?”
