The Desert Reclaimed

The journey to reclaim the land thanks to Nasiah was not as long and arduous as was thought.

They managed to run around the region and take back all the bases lost through the campaign of House Yuseff through Nasiah's intimidation.

Both Forcas and Forenus were extremely proud of the young boy. Their training on how to learn and read people has suited him well.

The she-wolf cackled in the wind, laughing at Nasiah's doings with a wide grin on her face.

"You've really outdone yourself, huh? You've managed to drive them all out without raising your sword. What's gotten into you? Not really up for fighting?"

Nasiah nodded. "In the other cases, such as Jaguar, Jossel, and all the other battles I was in, the use of force was inevitable overall. I had to use force and showcase what I could do. But now my reputation has grown, and I can use it to my advantage."

He grinned and swayed his head from side to side with intense joy on his face. There was also the fact that his mother needed him to ensure surviving soldiers, but that was not really necessary.

There was one thing on Nasiah's mind, though: since they were heading back towards their main base, they had some time for small talk.

The young boy looked at Forenus. "What was the law you were born under, Sir?"

From his intense control over water to the threads that were produced from his body. Nasiah knew he must have been an Aeborne as well, but he looked so much more human for some reason.

Forenus grinned. He knew this question would come sooner or later, especially when Forcas already told him about the Aeborne.

"The Law of The Sea. As you've witnessed firsthand, it allowed me to control and manipulate water in many ways."

The Marquis was known far and wide for his control over his navy with this power. An impressive force and power that could have turned the tide of the rebellion.

However, this was foreseen by David, who quickly mounted an offensive against Nahar and dominated the coastlines while destroying many of their ships.

They pushed the Marquis's men further inland, which was the reason why he went to capture Myrym in the first place to hold her hostage.

That would have been a dangerous move; however, he knew that there was a chance they might respond with further vengeance, which is why Nasiah was a stroke of luck.

An unknown power cannot be properly answered against. Any rash actions against it would prove fatal.

If you used too little power, it would be ineffective. If you used too much, and you would leave yourself overextended for the real threat.

Forenus had to keep it this way, and that's why he needed this to be over and done with as quickly as possible to ensure maximum effectiveness.

Nasiah smiled under his helmet. He remembered his first encounter with Forenus and how he fought. "Wow, that's amazing. But how come land is so barren then? Don't you want to fill it with water?"

It was a genuine question. There were just long stretches of desert from where they'd trekked. They've only seldom seen oases, lakes, and rivers.

And within the week that Nasiah was here. He has never seen rain.

Forenus looked up into the sky, right at the sparse clouds that began to cover the sunlight.

"It's a mix of tradition, maintenance, and how hard it is to change the land. Yes, I can manipulate the water vapor in the air into water and create rivers."

To prove his point, he raised his hand, and water appeared in his palm.

"However, the first problem I will face is maintaining it all across the land. While I am fast, I still need to allocate my time to important tasks such as finance, resource allocation, and decision-making."

The Marquis then manipulated the water in front of his horse to allow them to drink while they continued to gallop.

"The second is that eventually, the land would return to its regular state. Come to make my example, let us make a detour."

He then whistled, leading the group towards a valley familiar to Nasiah for it was the very same place he fought Jossel.

However, when he looked around, he found the massive scars in the earth, and the gashes across the side that he made with Magick were all gone.

Or rather, not as pronounced as they were before. There were only slight cracks on the walls and ground.

Nasiah looked in awe. It was quite the dramatic change last he left it.

Forenus gestured towards the seemingly repaired valley. "This was the best way to represent what I'm going to explain next."

"That is, the world itself does not change so easily. Especially when you do it by manipulating the laws of creation. Eventually, it will try to fix itself and force itself to become what it was beforehand."

Naisah thought back to his conversation with Musa before. How he told him that laws were much like water and people; they desired to be at rest and return to what they once were.

This must apply to even changes like this, too. That was incredible to Nasiah. It was important to note that it did not completely revert it. Many things were not changed back, but it was enough that it was noticeable.

Such things were the boulders flung around by the winds of Jossel and his elite. As well as the bits and pieces of solid magma that had since cooled down.

Musa himself began to comment on the phenomenon. "It's known as the Nuakh or the 'Settling'. It's when the laws of the world settle down after being changed. However, the effects that the law changes had, for example, occurred earlier when Marquis Forenus gave water to his horse."

He gestured to the horse. "The effect of the horse being nourished would still remain."

Forenus nodded. "And it is for this reason I cannot completely turn this desert into the world I desire to be. But, it's still quite beautiful is it not?"

A grin was on his face as he whistled and began to gallop away.

And Nasiah had to agree, it was still quite beautiful indeed.
