The beginner's town was a small settlement named Winxu, situated in the lower continent. The world was divided into five continents, each requiring a certain level and rank for access. John had entered the tower recently, yet he had swiftly ascended to bronze rank, surpassing Davy's strength. This might have been due to the special ability he gained from Sebastian.
John was Davy's supposed best friend, but his intentions were far from genuine. His friendship with him was merely a facade, a way to get closer to Suzy. In Davy's absence, John hurled insults at him and harbored sinister wishes for his demise, all to claim her for himself.
Returning to the incident involving Davy and the two adventurers, they reached an agreement. Davy consented to accompany them for a discussion with their superiors. Riding toward their base, Davy displayed impressive horsemanship despite having only one arm, further stoking John's irritation.
Upon their arrival, the group headed inside. The knights ordered him and his friends to wait in the cells, but he flatly refused.
"Let's get one thing straight. I came here to talk, and I agreed to listen to what you have to say. But to put us in cells? Are you looking down on us?" he declared angrily, activating soul touch.
The knights took a hesitant step back, fear flickering in their eyes as they drew their weapons. The head knight arrived, instructing them to lower their swords.
"Listen, boy, I would like nothing more than to put you in your place. However, I have my orders. Don't complicate things and get in the cells," the head knight said calmly.
"Don't make me repeat myself. Remember what I said before. I don't take shit from anyone. Putting us in cells when we did nothing wrong sounds like shit to me," he replied nonchalantly.
The head knight's patience waned, and he attacked him. Slamming Davy to the ground, he held him down by the throat. Unfortunately for the head knight, his assault provided an opening. Suzy and Sakura swiftly closed in, surrounding the head knight with a barrage of fire magic arrows. A smirk played on Davy's lips as he observed the unfolding situation.
"Your move, head knight," he said calmly.
"Hmph, I thought you were different, but it turns out you are just trash like the others," the head knight sneered as he released him.
"Trash, you say? No, the real trash here is you and all the so-called knights of this town, letting adventurers do as they please, harassing women and men alike. Where is the justice in that? Don't try to force your bullshit on me," he retorted confidently as he stood up.
The head knight shot him an enraged glare and left, followed by the other knights. Ari woke up, confusion etched on her face as she noticed the state of the cells. Seeing Davy bleeding from his mouth, she rushed toward him, concern in her voice.
"Big brother, what happened? Did someone hurt you?" she asked, her voice filled with worry.
"It's nothing, don't worry about it. Let's get out of here. It was foolish of us to come here," he reassured her.
"Are you sure that's a wise idea? All the people here seem to be really strong, especially that John guy. He's only the captain; my guess is there are more powerful people inside this very base," Sakura warned.
"I agree with Sakura on this one. Why don't we just wait for John? I'm sure he will help us," Suzy suggested.
He looked at them and then at Ari, who clung tightly to his legs, clearly anxious. He sighed, relenting.
"Fine, we'll wait. But not in here. Let's go outside at the very least," he said, lifting Ari into his arms.
They made their way outside, where many knights observed them. Spotting a tree in the distance, they decided to wait there. After a few hours, the commander, the third highest-ranking officer in the base, arrived. She looked at them with disgust and put a napkin to her mouth.
"Uh, disgusting… listen up, my name is Commander Charlotte. I am the third highest-ranking knight in this entire base, and I have come to personally escort you. Be honored, you lowlives," she said, attempting to sound intimidating.
None of them appeared interested in her self-introduction, especially not Davy. Seeing Ari sitting on his lap, she jumped to a disturbing conclusion.
"YOU, RELEASE THAT CHILD IMMEDIATELY!!!" she shouted, her aura flaring.
"The fuck are you talking about?" He replied casually.
"Don't you dare play dumb; you kidnapped that child, didn't you?"
"Why would big brother kidnap me?" Ari asked innocently.
"Your poor child, you have been brainwashed. Don't worry, I will save you from these evil people," she declared as she drew her sword.
Sighing, he gently put Ari to the side and drew his own sword, walking toward Charlotte.
"You think you can fight me? You? A lowly mid-human rank dares to stand in front of a high-ranking bronze rank? How laughable," she said arrogantly, charging at him.
Their swords clashed, and Davy was pushed back. She kicked him away, but he landed on his feet. She jumped, attempting to slash him from above. He managed to block the attack, although he still took damage from the force. His healing ability kicked in, quickly mending his injuries.
"Not bad. Why don't I get a little serious now," she said, powering up.
She vanished and reappeared behind him. He couldn't react fast enough and was slashed. He fell to his knees, his healing ability working to mend his wounds. Suzy and Sakura tried to intervene.
"STAY BACK, SHE IS MINE!!!" He yelled at them.
Struggling to his feet, he began to power up. He hadn't activated [The Bringer of Death] because he wanted to test his limits. He attacked with a [Fire Slash], but Charlotte easily blocked it. He had never faced such a strong and intelligent opponent before. Frustration gnawed at him; he knew he couldn't beat her without using [The Bringer of Death], but he refused to resort to it. He was determined to surpass his limits.
He kept attacking with multiple spells, but he couldn't land a single blow. She punched him into the ground and stepped on him. Ari started crying, held by Suzy, who looked worried. Sakura, reaching her limit, slowly reached for her sword.
"Dammit, is the power gap really this big? I CAN'T NOT ACCEPT THIS, I WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS!!" He motivated himself as he stood up.
"DING, through sheer determination and unwillingness to lose, the skill [Unwavering Will] has been learned. Do you wish to activate this ability?" the system asked.
"No, I still have something to try. Let's save that for someone stronger," he telepathically told the system.
"Very well, master. Be careful," the system said in a worried tone.
"Don't worry about me, just watch this final move of mine," he replied with a smirk on his face.
"Why are you smirking over there? Have you finally given up?" she arrogantly asked.
He ignored her and began gathering his aura into his sword. Dark energy enveloped his body and weapon, his eyes bleeding as the entire base trembled.
"H…hey, that attack looks really dangerous. I need to stop him before a disaster happens," she thought to herself.
She ran toward him, and many knights, including the supreme commander of the entire base, felt the killing intent he was emitting. They all rushed toward his location. He smirked villainously as Charlotte charged at him.
"Know despair," he menacingly said.
"STOP IT NOWWWWW!" she yelled desperately.
"Heaven's e—"
Before he could finish his attack, he passed out and collapsed to the ground. she arrived and stepped on him.
"[Huff, huff] You monstrous bastard," she nervously muttered.
"DAVY!" his teammates tried to run toward him, but they were stopped by knights.
"What do you think you are doing? We need to go see if he is alright," Suzy said in a worried tone.
"I am sorry, but we cannot allow that," one of the knights said.
Suzy used wind magic to leap over the knights and rush toward him but John appeared out of nowhere and knocked her out.
"What are you doing, Mr. John? Why are you hurting us?" Ari asked, tears flowing down her cheeks.
"You are too young to understand," he coldly replied.
He swiftly moved behind her and knocked her out. The supreme commander arrived and surveyed the situation.
"What happened here?" the commander asked, surveying the scene.
"I was teaching this bastard who kidnapped that kid a lesson," Charlotte confidently replied.
"Sigh, you do realize that she came with him from the other world, right? It was John who sent her to him. He didn't kidnap her; he was taking care of her," the commander explained, holding his head in annoyance.
Charlotte fell silent, gritting her teeth, aware of her mistake. She walked away without uttering another word.
"Lock them up. We will have to interrogate them once they wake up," the commander ordered.
[Many gods have taken a liking to Davy.]
