First Fight

While Spongebob and Patrick were off to the side scaring each other with their worries, the others were huddled in a group discussing what they were going to do.

"So what are we going to do? This place unknown to us, and we don't know if any people we come across are going to be friendly." Sandy asked the group and Karen's eyes lit up.

"I received more information on the beast glades that we are currently in. It's home to various types of beasts called mana beasts, though I'm not sure what mana is. Ah I see!" She responded before seemingly getting some more information.

"What? What else did you learn?" Plankton asked his wife.

"Mana is type of energy in this world that can be formed inside of humans called mages and beasts that makes mana beasts. I can sense this new energy within all of us and my abilities allow me to calculate our current levels or stages as it's called. I'm currently a mid red stage Lightning mage, which according to all this information means I also can use fire.

Sandy is a mid red like me and can use earth and plant magic. However something I've also noticed is that the rest of you are already at the light red, with Spongebob already at dark orange. My theory for this is that when we got transported here we were give a boost past the normal black core and went straight to red. I also believe that the ones who were former sea creatures have adapted how they breathed under water to now intake mana much easier than normal humans." Sandy looked at Karen in surprise before coming to her own realization.

"And the reason Spongebob is already higher than all of us is because he was a sponge. His absorption of this energy must be leaps higher than our own." Karen nodded at Sandy's assessment but before she could respond a creature burst out of tree line, it was a massive wolf. It snarled at the group who all stepped back in fear.

"Spongebob we need you to fight the creature, you're the strongest one out of all of us right now!" Karen yelled to the yellow haired man who looked at her in fear before looking back at the wolf. The wolf seemed to take that as a challenge and charged the former sponge, mouth open wide as it flew through the air.

Spongebob squeezed his eyes tight as he began hoping for something to save him, his thoughts went to his bubbles as they comforted him. He eventually opened his when he never felt the force of the wolf knock into him. When he opened his eyes he and the rest of the group were encased inside bubbles and even more bubbles formed around them like a protective sphere. Even the wolf was suspended in air, trapped inside a bubble it couldn't pop.

Spongebob sighed and smiled brightly at his friends.

"Look! I made bubbles!" They all looked at him dumbfoundedly before sighing in relief. With a conscious effort, Spongebob released the other and left only the wolf howling inside the bubble.

"Spongebob's wishes must have used his water and wind mana to create bubbles somehow. Spongebob try popping the bubble, see what happens." He looked at Karen in confusion, but shrugged before imagining the bubble popping. However instead of a small pop, what resulted was practically an explosion. Bits of wolf went every where, but a small round object dropped to the ground from where the wolf had been.

Everybody stood still, mortified at what they had just witnessed. Karen was the first to snap out of it and approached the orb that had fallen, when she picked it up more information was sent to her.

"This is a beast core, all mana beasts drop these upon death and they can be used to help progress a mages training. The wolf seemed to be predisposed to wind magic, so you should have it Spongebob." Karen finished as she dropped the orb into the still frozen hands of Spongebob. He stared down at the orb with remorse until a soft hand landed on shoulder belonging to Sandy.

"Don't feel so bad Spongebob, that creature was going to try and kill us. You're a hero." Sandy said consoling and Spongebob's eyes brightened slightly.

"A hero?" Spongebob's eyes began to glaze over and he walked over to Patrick.

"I'm a hero Patrick." Patrick looked at Spongebob in awe before clenching his meaty fist.

"I wanna be a hero too!" Faint sparks could be seen flickering off Patrick's fist. At that moment another mana beast burst through the foliage and Patrick's eyes locked on to the bear like creature. Taking a note from Spongebob he tried making bubbles and he did, except his had sparks of electricity wrapping around them. Hundreds of bubbles formed with lightning crackling, the bear looked at the pink haired man and froze in fear.

This proved to be fatal for it as the hundreds of charged bubbles flew forward and began continuously electrocuting the bear as each bubble connected with it. All that was left was the charred remains littering the ground with a core left on the ground.

"Oh, an earth affinity beast core!" Karen said as she stepped forward to the core and raised it up.

"Sorry Patrick but you won't find much use for this. However Sandy and Mr. Krabs could use it as they are both earth mages." Mr Krabs stared at the core as did Sandy.

"Will it make me any money?" The Krabs asks Ed and Karen adjusted her glasses as she looked at it.

"Ehhh, not quite. While rarer cores do sell for quite the sum, this one is only a D rank core. You'd likely gain less than you would using it to progress your training." Karen clarified as mr. Krabs stared at the orb.

"So it's not worth any money? Then give it to the lass." Krabs waved his hand at her and went back to counting the coins in the bag he had come with. Sandy practically hopped and skipped to the swirling brown core and picked it up with glee.

"After I study this little thing, I'll use it like you said." Sandy said with her eyes glued to the orb and Plankton and Karen followed her.

"I'd very much like to study it as well if you don't mind." Karen said.

"Well 3 minds are better than 1." Plankton said with an inquisitive stare as he followed after the 2. This whole time Squidward had been sitting down against a tree clutching his clarinet with a terrified expression.

"What is going on here…?" He muttered to himself.

Author's Note

First fights or are they really fights? Pretty much just annihilations. Don't worry they aren't that OP the beasts they killed were just really weak. Probably going to have them stumble across an adventurer party next chapter and finally get to the city.
