Chapter 473 ( Bait - I )

"No, it's not necessary" - Pakunoda replied neutrally while wiping her sweat - "I didn't know you thought so highly of me, Cloud-san."

"No, I'm just watchful of all the people trying to get close to us, more my so-called allies" - Cloud replied calmly.

Pakunoda was alert, more so when she saw how Kyōka had left her room and was walking towards the door, obviously to block her escape route.

"Is this necessary?" - Pakunoda asked as she looked carefully at the blond who was sitting placidly in front of her.

"You could say yes" - Cloud replied as he stood up and walked in front of the woman, only to take her by the chin and look her straight in the eyes - "After all, I want to know more about your boss."

"I'm not going to say anything" - Pakunoda said neutrally.

"I don't need you to say anything" - Cloud replied as he released her.

He had no sexual interest in the woman even though she had a beautiful figure, so there was no need to use fake seduction moves.

"You are the perfect bait to be able to capture your mates" - Cloud said seriously.

Pakunoda's expression changed when she heard this as she felt how for the first time during this little conversation, a deep fear gripped her insides.

Did he even know about her true identity? And if so, for how long had he been aware of who she was?

"Did you?" muttered Pakunoda with a pale face.

"No, I don't know who you are, nor do I know what organization you serve, but I have a few suspects" - answered Cloud as he walked to the table and took the cup of tea with a small smile on his face - "There are not many organizations that have so much knowledge of the underworld, excepting those organizations that move among the murky waters of the abyss itself."

[Abyss], a term the hunters used to refer to organizations that were deep in the underworld, a rather apt term in his opinion.

"And if we're talking about the [Abyss], there aren't many known organizations, except for one that lately lowered its danger level" - Cloud said as his smile grew slightly as he noticed how the woman's face was getting more and more full of sweat - "I think I'm sure you know who I'm talking about".

"W-Who?" - Pakunoda asked as she tried to return to normal, but it was difficult with the enormous pressure she was feeling.

It was as if she was being pressed against the ground by a huge claw.

"Don't play dumb, you know very well who I'm talking about" - Cloud replied as he squinted his eyes and walked back to the woman.

Pakunoda quickly started thinking at full speed whether it was a good idea to take this opportunity and attack, only to sigh internally when she saw how the blond wasn't letting his guard down, no, in fact, he seemed to be waiting for her to attack.

"Hmm, that's a pity" - Cloud muttered, though Pakunoda could feel her insides shudder when she heard this - "Anyway, better get back to the main topic."

Pakunoda maintained her silence as she felt something curl into her body.

She slowly looked down and noticed how a pair of chains began to imprison her body.

Pakunoda looked in the direction of the source and saw how Kyoko was responsible for capturing her, though to her surprise, these chains didn't seem to be that strong, possibly thanks to her restraint, so this was more or less a symbolic capture.

"As I was saying, there are few organizations that are from the [Abyss] that are famous, and the most "popular", is none other than the [Ghost Brigade - Phantom Troupe]" - Cloud continued as he looked at the woman, only to frown as he noticed how she seemed to be motionless and expressionless.

Pakunoda was using all her power to not show any sort of emotion or reaction, because maybe then she could find a way to escape without alerting her true identity, though she had to admit that this was difficult when the blond was pressing her for answers.

"Are you saying that I'm possibly from the spider?" - Pakunoda asked as she shook her head - "It's impossible, I'm too weak to be a member of that dangerous organization."

Cloud stared at her for a few seconds before he started to think.

"Perfect, maybe a little more, and I'll be able to convince him that I don't belong to the [Phantom Troupe]" - Pakunoda thought as she kept her expression neutral - "In fact, I belong to the [Salvatore Family]."

"Salvatore?" - Cloud repeated as he looked closely at the woman, only to smile again - "Really?"

"I gain nothing by lying to you in this situation where my life is at stake" - Pakunoda replied as she felt something sharp touch her chin - ". . ."

Pakunoda was silent as she waited for Cloud's words, after all, she felt there was no reason for him to find out about her.

"What do the [Salvatore] do?" - Cloud asked as he pressed his spear against Pakunoda.

Pakunoda opened her mouth, but before she could say anything else, she felt the spear pierce her chin slightly, drawing a little blood - ". . ."

"I think that was enough, Cloud, I don't think she's a member of the spider" - Menchi said as she shook her head.

Cloud gave Menchi a glance before looking at Pakunoda, only to remove his spear - "Go away."

"Thank you" - Pakunoda replied as she gave a small bow before leaving the place.

She didn't even ask if he would accept the mission, not when her life could end at any moment.

"I think we should capture her" - Kyōka said seriously.

"We will, in fact, she's still the bait" - Cloud answered while shaking his head.

"How?" - Menchi asked with surprise, only to notice a small detail - "Wait, where's Sora?"

Cloud smiled when he heard that question, and that's when Menchi understood the blond's words.

"With how smart, fast, and sneaky Sora is, we'll already know if that woman told the truth" - Cloud said as a huge smile appeared on his face - "If she goes to the home of the [Salvatore Family], everything will be fine, but if not, well, we already know which organization she belongs to."

"Do you really think she's from the [Ghost Brigade]?" - Menchi asked seriously, after all, this was a serious topic.

"I've been thinking about it for the past few weeks" - Cloud answered seriously - "Normally, this would have been the time where we would have already encountered the spider, after all, we've been rooting out hundreds of criminals, but nothing like that has happened."

"Exactly, it's as if our movements, didn't affect the spider, that's why we were thinking that it's possible that we've been doing the dirty work for them" - Kyōka added while looking at Menchi, proving again that her intelligence was not inferior to Cloud's - "I've been watching that woman every time she came home, and I've noticed that she hasn't shown any openings during her stay, even when she gives us the information we need, she doesn't leave much topic of conversation, or additional information that could help her earn more money"

"Now that you mention it, she only offers us our jobs and her information" - muttered Menchi as she started to think - "Normally informants seek to trade their information so they can earn more money, but she didn't seem to want to earn better income, in fact"

"She's much stronger than me" - muttered Kyoko as she looked at her chains that had broken almost immediately after catching the woman - "From the speed they broke, I'd say she's twice as strong as me, and it's even possible that she's triple."

"Then her base power level would come ranging from 500, to 650" - Kyōka said as she started to think - "She's still weak, no offense, Kyoko-san"

"Different factors" - answered Kyōka while shrugging her shoulders - "Physical power, aura, mastery in martial arts or weaponry, control of her body or energy, among other things."

"Kyoko-san has a base power of 200, but if we count her familiars, then her power goes up to 800, 900" - Kyōka continued with a huge smile - "As for you, Menchi-san, you have a base power of 400, 500 if you you activate your Nen, and 600 if you use your full power."
