CHAPTER 6: “She Dared To Kick Me”

The rest of the people in the hallway were left speechless . They didn't know what had transpired inside their boss's office that made Victoria NightShade so mad , she quit right there and there .

Regaining his senses Adam dashed towards the CEO'S office and found his boss slightly resting on the wall in slight pain.

"Shit!!!!!" Alex 's pain made him curse a lot Victoria used a lot of force on her kick even as he dodged he still felt pain in his groin . He did not believe she could do that. She was skilled . He did not want to think of the pain.

"That woman dared to kick me " He managed to utter . "Why did she kick you". Adam assisted him to the sofa . Alex told him what happened and Adam shook his head . " why would you do that"? " what do you mean by why? She can seduce me but I can't even tease" ? Alex scoffed .

Manager kim said she is your new secretary ".

Sighing Alex rubbed his forehead when he felt a headache coming ." Where is she right now"?

"She left and said she is quitting "

Alex abruptly turned his head to Adam and said "What ? Why did she leave ? What did she say?"

"Well , she said she doesn't want to work under a pervert like you ". Adam laughed ,throwing his head back as he recalled Victoria's reaction after she escaped from Alex.

"She said that? Hmmmh!" Alex scoffed. "Who's the pervert? She got the nerve to say that . Don't tell me she forgot what she did to me before ?!"when she was saying teasing words? Standing up, Alex walked towards his desk and retrieved something from the locked drawer. He stared at it as he said "Don't let her leave"

Arriving at the lobby, Victoria angrily stepped out of the elevator and headed outside of the building. She was so pissed that she looked at the top floor clenched her hands . How could a man just suddenly drag her like that and trap her??

Yes he was handsome and smelled like really good like musky and woody with a slight minty fragrance but that was not the point!! She wouldn't want to work for a boss like him who takes advantage of his employees. It doesn't matter how much she was going to be paid , she doesn't care.

Just as she was cursing Alex in her mind, a gentle man walked closely behind her , Mrs Nightshade our boss is calling you, Victoria's brow furrowed , she looked at Adam seriously, making him gulp."I won't go back to that place anymore I quit !!!!!!' You can tell him that".

Adam felt like Victoria was being difficult. If he can't make her come back to the office, he Mia's walk send in his resignation letter as Alex will surely make things difficult for him. After contemplating, a friendly smile appeared on his face as he responded, "well, if you have really decided to resign, then I will escort you to the HR department so that you can finalise your exit".

"Okay". Feeling relieved that she was no longer forced to go back , Victoria exhaled a sigh of relief and smiled as she went inside.

When Victoria reached the HR Dri, Adam told her wait for manager Kim and he left. While she sat on the chair , her heart felt heavy as the huge salary slipped out of her hand.

"Hello, Miss Nightshade . Welcome back ". Said Ms Kim as she sat on the chair behind the desk with a smile. Even after the incident earlier, she was still professional in front of Victoria."Mr Adam told me that you wanted to leave".

Victoria bit her lip and nodded;" Not a problem , kindly sign this part right here," Manager Kim pointed at the document in her hand on this account then you can go once it's settled.

"What ?" Victoria clscanned the document and saw the part elwjere Ms Kim highlighted. Her eyes almost popped out when she saw the huge amount. In her previous job, she would work for half a year without spending any cent just to be able to pay this bond. " I...I....I have to pay this? Her words stumbled along her flunctuating heart.

Maintaining a professional smile, Kim answered,"yes, according to this section on the contract that you signed when you became his secretary, you are not allowed to resign within the year. But since you insist on leaving the company before that, you will leave after you pay for the bond .

Arriving at her apartment, she noticed another reminder for her to pay rent. She removed it and entered her apartment lazily,stepping on the pile of envelopes on the floor . Picking it up , she checked it one by one , some contained the bills she needs to pay while others were ylthe job she neeoto do as a vampire hunter. He dropped them back on the floor went to her room and lay down flat on the bed facing her back. She crawled , took her mom picture on the side table and said" mom it is because of you I am doing this job they don't even pay money all they do is force people and hunt those who do not want to join them, but I have to avenge your death . I wonder all the pain they have put you through. You did not deserve to die , " Those vampires , they will all die". She said with vengeful eyes ." Enough of this talk, how are you doing mom and dad? You don't need to worry about Luna we are both fine . Luna is in school and she is learning like a normal human girl . Sometimes I just wish I could also be normal like Luna. Be human with no care of the world. It is so tiring . " Good night mom I will talk to you tomorrow " . She adis as she put the picture back . "How will I pay all my bills , maybe i should just do the job , Luna also needs the money for her school fees . With different thoughts in her head she cleared her head and took a shower.

"Tomorrow , Tomorrow, I will think of this ", she said as sleep drifted her away.
