"What is that? Who's playing drums? Did someone break in?" Bonnie's anxious heart was beating in sync with the drums.
Could there be a stranger in the dark with them? Or was there someone standing outside their door?
Dixie got up and wiped her sweaty face with a towel. She flicked on the light switch and headed towards their kitchen.
"Wait!" Bonnie leapt off the bed. "I'm coming with you. I have a bad feeling. A really bad feeling."
Though she was scared and wanted to stay put and let her sister handle it, she had to accompany her. She didn't know why but she knew she had to. It was important?
Dixie also felt a bit troubled, but she remained calm.
The drumming is coming from within a cabinet. Specifically, from the cupboard where Dixie had stashed the book. The frame of the door is leaking light as if someone had placed a bright flashlight inside it.
Though mystifying and a bit spooky, they don't feel fear anymore. Instead a strange sense of longing fills their minds.
Suddenly, the cupboard flies open and the books soars out as if thrown. It levitates above their heads and the infinity symbol separates itself from the cover, growing larger and emitting more white light.
The sisters cry out in shock and shield their eyes.
The room is sweltering.
The drums beat harder and louder. They can no longer tell if it's coming out of the book. The tempo overwhelms them, causing them to pant. At this point, it sounds as if the drumming is coming from within them.
Dixie clutches her chest. "Ahh, what is this!? What's hurting me!?"
Bonnie is doubled over trying to catch her breath. "You bought a haunted book! We're going to die!"
Panic sets in and they make a run for it. But they're a second too late. The infinity drops over them, trapping each sister in one of its loops. The knot grows tighter until their backs slam together. A sharp current of lightning shoots throughout their bodies. They both shriek in pain.
"Just know that I'll always love you, Dixie. You're the best sister any girl could have!"
"What!? No! We're not going to---" Her sentence breaks off as she erupts into a coughing fit.
A moment later, Bonnie starts shaking as if she's having a seizure.
The suffocating heat causes them to finally lose consciousness as their bodies dissolve into mist and get absorbed into the infinity. The symbol disappears as soon as it finishes devouring them.
The book falls to the ground and a haunting silence replaces the wild beating.
