The Meeting

The rest of the day drags by slowly as I anticipate meeting Omari-san. I still couldn't believe that I am meeting him later today. The lunch bell rings and Kaede walks back to my desk.

"Want to eat outside today?" Kaede asks nervously. I look at her confused but agree to the idea, grabbing my bento. We head out to a bench in the courtyard.

"Kaede, what's wrong? James-san still isn't responding to your messages?" I ask before taking a bite of the omelette in my bento. Kaede shifts around uncomfortably.

"I think James-san wants to break up", her voice cracks as I see tears start to roll down her face. A rage fills me but I remember I need to be a friend to Kae-chan first. I put down my bento and pull Kaede into a hug, as she starts to fully sob now.

"You'll be okay Kae-chan. I'm sure James-san doesn't want to break up with you. The guy is crazy for you!" I try to reassure Kaede, but then she shows me a text in phone from James.

We need to talk about our relationship. I think it's time to change things.

"Oh that can't be good…", I mumble to myself as Kaede starts sobbing again. I try to think of what to do, but the only thing I can think of is to take her mind off of it.

"Let's not think about James-san right now. I actually have important news to tell you!" I exclaim with a smile on face. Kaede sits up and wipes her eyes. "You do?" she sniffles.

"Guess who has a match and is meeting them after school?" I beam, trying to contain my excitement. Kae-chan gasps and grabs my hands. We start squealing as I pull out my phone to show her Omari.

"This is him. His name is Omari and he lives in Tokyo!" I giggle handing Kaede my phone. Kaede scrolls through the email and gasps when she reaches the picture of him.

"He looks so tall! He's Korean??" Kae-chan squeaks in excitement. I nod as I take back my phone. I look at his picture again and smile.

"I get to meet him after school. He's coming to pick me up to meet me." I announce to her right before the bell starts to ring. We both startle in shock to hear that lunch is almost over. We giggle and quickly finish our food before hurrying back inside for the last two classes.

Though lunch went by pretty quickly, the next few classes seem to drag on again. My eyes were on the clock on my phone more than the projection at the front of the class.

2:25. So close yet, so far at the same time. I try to take my mind off the meeting for a few moments by focusing on exam prep, but all I can think about is meeting Omari in a just a few minutes.

I check the time again. 2:29. In just one minute, I'll be see Omari, my possible future husband. I want to scream but my thoughts are finally interrupted by the school bell. "ATTENTION. BOW." the class rep shouts. I hurry and gather my things together when I feel my phone vibrate.

I'm outside the school gate in a blue bomber jacket.

It's another message from Omari. Suddenly a wave of nervousness rushes over me. I'm really about to meet him. Kae-chan taps my shoulder with a look of concern.

"Are you okay Kimi-chan?" Kaede puzzles, as I stand up slowly. I show her the text and she squeals. Kae-chan takes my hand.

"It'll be okay. You'll meet and click and it'll be fine!" Kae-chan giggles pulling me out of the classroom. I sigh and smile, giggling along Kae-chan out of the classroom. We get to the shoe locker room and I switch to my outdoor shoes quickly.

"Hurry Kimi-chan! You don't want to keep him waiting for too long. He's probably just as nervous as you." Kae-chan giggles standing at the door. I put up my indoor shoes and we head out the door. We get closer to the gate and notice a large amount of girls gathering around a person. A tall guy with sunglasses on was leaning against the school gate wall. He has on a blue jacket.

"Kae-chan, that's Omari! He said he had on a blue jacket!" I whisper to Kaede. We get closer to the large group of girls. Omari turns his head and a smile comes across his face.

"Ah Kimiko-chan, there you are! Sorry ladies, I gotta go." Omari says parting the large gathering. He walks up to me and I freeze. He is a lot taller than I had thought. I hear the large group of girls grumble and dissipate to their normal cliques. Omari takes off his sunglasses and his eyes lock onto mine. His eyes suck me in with their beauty. I knew Omari is an attractive man but I didn't expect to be so captivated by him.

"Hello Kimiko-chan, I'm Omari. It's nice to meet you." Omari grins as he holds out his hand. Still in shock, I shake it just staring into his eyes. Even the sound of his deep honey voice sucks me in.

"Hi Omari-san. It's nice to meet you too." I finally choke out once I realize I had not spoken. Kae-chan taps my arm and waves goodbye giggling. I almost wanted to stop her from leaving, but Omari steps in front of me taking back my attention.

"How about we go to a coffee shop or something? Get to know each other a little better?" Omari asks lowering himself to my eye level. I swallow and nod. We walk off the school grounds towards town. I couldn't believe that this is happening right now.
