I: Faith
I tempered my doubts about Zane, determined to let events play out while remaining mindful and cautious. I continued to invest most of myself in the retreat and the work I was there to do, but I invested also in learning more about Zane, and letting him learn more about me.
The desk in my suite, where I spent my writing time, looked out at a long bridge, and a highway, messy with motorcycles, and beyond that the sunset, wide and near. With the window open, bike and car horns rang out and harmonized with the songs of seabirds. My daydreams lived in those sunsets. They emerged out of that silver sun like a film.
