This is the story of how Emery Walters became whom he was supposed to be.<br><br>I knew I was male at an early age, something that was a societal no-no in the 1950s and still is in parts of the country today. Burying my male identity, I strove to be the best woman possible. But after raising my four wonderful children from two debilitating marriages, I found myself alone and nearly penniless. That was when Emery asserted his identity.<br><br>Life became better with the shift from female to male, a third marriage, and a wife who, herself, transitioned from male to female.

Chapter 31

One better time, I took Archie and Laura to a little tourist trap outside of town called Rawhide. We told Archie that if could get a sheep in the trunk of the car, he could take it home. I hope he isn’t still holding that against me.

And there was the time I did have the car, but it needed something cheap. I drove it to the ‘shop’ a mile away, and pushed Archie home in the stroller (in the heat). They called and said it needed about three other things. I have no idea how I came up with the extra money or whether or not it was true.

So fun, as they say now, and such antics. Archie putting a poisonous berry in his mouth and running away from Bill. Bill chased him. Archie stopped and squatted down. Bill did not stop but went flying over top of the kid. Good times.
