The Hunt

( please note i changed the name of the main character's gaming name to Abyssal lord so you can check the first chapter to see) 

After the training Elric said he should take a breath of fresh air, so he could get accustomed to his environment, the training session was very nice and he would have preferred to do it again and for longer before he logged out of the game

. But Elric still advised him to go and check the environment, his soft words still ringing inside his head.

"Even if you get stronger fighting an opponent who knows the area better than you would put you in a bad disadvantage and besides battle isn't all about fists and weapons, just look at Athena, in Greek mythology she was the goddess of wisdom and war, but unlike Ares who won battles through brute strength and barbaric methods, she won it through wisdom and tactics.

I know learning how to fight is very important but learning how to make strategies is equally important too. So why don't you focus on mixing both of these elements into your fighting style.

Even though he didn't want to do it but the way Elric explained it to him it just felt too reasonable to argue with. While moving through the virtual land he encountered some rabbits.

... "This is amazing they look so life like even though this is suppose to be a game, i guess technology has gone farther than i thought."

He slowly crept quietly to the undisturbed and innocent rabbit, it was eating carrots without a care for the world seemingly undisturbed by the predator creeping behind it.

I know i can use different weapons but i'm not sure how to, do i just think about using it. 

He couldn't think of a solution so he summoned his inventory, the former empty space was now filled with weapons of different kinds all inside his inventory, so he imagined bringing a long sword out of his inventory and a portal appeared which he put his hand into and what came out was a giant sword bigger than the size of his whole body.

This sword had a metallic luster and was well polished shining very bright, the reflection was so clear that he could even see his face. The only thing about it was that it was a bit chipped even the clean surface couldn't hide the old age of the weapon.

Picking the weapon into his hand he finally realized how heavy it was, that at the first try it nearly made him fall off. Seeing as the weight was a bit much but it wasn't too hard to carry but what he noticed was that it reduced his agility. Even the system knew it.

He was shocked that the large sword reduced his dexterity but not that much, after all he's seen system books whereby weapons or armor decreased some stats of the MC. But at the very least it increased his strength stat with three points which meant his attack power had probably increased too.

He wasn't even sure what a -1 stat in dexterity would do after all he didn't feel that much slow, Come to think of it since he entered the virtual world his physical prowess was exactly the same in the real world.

"So i guess my strength in the real world affects my strength in this world too."Having checked all of this it was time to get back to his prey, which had already in the time he was thinking traveled a bit of some distance from him."

He slowly moved towards it in some bushes his long sword placed on his back so as to not affect his movement.

"sorry rabbit even though i might not know how long you have lived in this world, even though it was probably just for an hour or so, you will greatly be missed by your family, you were just a rabbit who picked the wrong time to stuff his face with carrots."

He wouldn't have said all of that if not for the life like features of the rabbit. After saying this he quickly descended on the prey. His large sword descending from the heavens was coming down to the ground, the only problem was how slow it was going making it easy for the white rabbit to dodge but not only that but due to the force of how much he slammed the sword it didn't seem to come out.

He tried with all his might but it wouldn't come out of the ground, he had to make a decision either try to take the large sword out or chase the rabbit. He quickly chose the second option and ran after the rabbit.

He was slowly catching up to the rabbit, it looked like they were doing a game of cat and mouse for a few minutes until he finally caught up to the rabbit seeing this and not wanting to waste this opportunity he summoned a spear from his inventory and proceeded to stab it. The spear pierced through the rabbit's body and exited through the other side making the rabbit go limp and cease from existing.

Seeing that the rabbit was still on his spear he had to throw it off, it's body laying lifelessly at the side. It seemed that unlike other games the body of the things he killed didn't disappear which was weird.

No wonder it was rated 18 + and not allowed for children under the age of 18 because the violence and grim scenes for this game are not good for kids. I guess i shouldn't be surprised that the rabbit only gave me 5 exp after all it was pretty weak and didn't try to fight back so of course they would only give him a bit of experience.

But chasing that rabbit had thought him something, and what it thought him was that you couldn't just use any weapon for an opponent. If he didn't have so many different weapons in his inventory and it was only a large sword he had then killing the small harmless rabbit would have been next to impossible. After thinking this he made a mental note in his head so that he wouldn't forget.

After slaying the rabbit and leaving the dead body behind he decided to venture a bit into the open land so he could find more rabbits and possibly other animals to kill.

The whole virtual world that was in his view was just green patches and dense forests behind it nothing else could meet his eyes. So he just walked a bit more distance till he finally encountered another rabbit. This one was still just like the first one a white rabbit and was eating carrots just like the first one.

Now knowing what to do he silently crept up to the rabbit with his trusty spear in hand, he looked like a seasoned hunter who had been through many hunts with different animals. But the problem is you can't become an experienced hunter with just one hunt and not knowing the environment as his foot landed on a branch which made a loud noise. At least loud enough to make his prey know of his existence. 

Sensing his presence the rabbit immediately tried to run but it was slower than the last one making it possible for him to catch it and when he got close enough he stabbed it right through his body just like the first one.

Seeing the notifications made joy explode to his body as it made him very happy.

....But wait i don't think the rabbit got slower i think i just got faster, trying to test his theory he ran a few meters and realized he was indeed faster than before.

Could it be because of the spear, not wanting to waste anytime he quickly summoned his stats bar

I see now unlike the large sword the spear actually increases my agility by 2 points and also increases my strength by two points too unlike the large sword that only increased my strength but reduced my agility.

After this he dismissed his spear.

"Wait a minute i'm such a fool, if i can take weapons into my inventory by touch doesn't that mean i can take the long sword too even though it was buried into the ground to test his theory he quickly went back to the place where he killed the first rabbit. When he came back to the place he saw the large sword still placed on the floor but what was disturbing was that the dead rabbit's body was still there. Usually in games once you kill a NPC the body usually disappears immediately or a few minutes later but he had already been gone for an hour and it was still there.

Brushing the feeling of his body he got the large sword out of the ground through his inventory and went back to his way.

Now getting the hang of it he was able to kill four more rabbits easily using his spear like a hook and stabbing each of them.

The boy had a visible smile on his face because of the notifications that were greeting his view

He got those notifications four times in a row, which showed his improvement in the field he was feeling very ecstatic about the whole thing. And didn't even realize how the number of rabbits had reduced and how he was walking deeper into the forest.

It was till he reached very deep into the forest that he finally noticed his situation he wanted to turn back but he suddenly felt deadly eyes on him, the joy he felt was short lived after all now the hunter had become the hunted.
