A Fortune!

Tiffany walked past the receptionist, ignoring the greetings the two young women threw her way. She kept her sunglasses on despite being inside the building of her father's law office. With her chin high up in the air, she marched inside and ignored her father's private secretary.

She went further into her father's private office, with the secretary running after her, telling her that she wasn't allowed to be in the private office of her own father.

She halted her steps when she reached the desk of her father, littered with documents with the law firm logo. She slowly turned her head over her shoulder when she heard the secretary telling her for the nth time that no one was allowed to be in the inner office of her father, except him.

She stared at the panicking expression of the young secretary and scoffed sarcastically. Her father has a penchant for young employees and this one fits the bill to the T. She looked like a kid that would cry anytime if someone would raise his or her voice on her.

She breathed in deeply and as she slowly released the air from her chest, she pulled the corner of her lips into a polite smile.

"Miss, can you fetch me a glass of water, please?"

Her gentle voice and polite request threw the secretary off so that she said yes without thinking that she would be left alone in the office.

Tiffany widened her smile as she nodded to the door, silently urging the secretary to go and fetch her some water before she could say something back to correct her mistake.

"Yes, young miss," she said in a small voice, glancing worriedly at the messy desk of her boss.

Tiffany followed the secretary with her gaze as she stepped out of the office. When the glass door closed behind her, she stepped sideways to scan the documents on her father's desk, not really looking.

She knew the reason why the young secretary was panicking. The documents that were lying around on the desk were contracts that were being drawn for private individuals that wanted to draw discreet contracts.

She glanced over the boring pile of paper and stepped back. She would just wait for the annoying secretary in the private lounge, the cafe there has a cute barista. She fixed her sling bag over her shoulder, she hit a bunch of papers and fell to the floor. A curse smoothly came out of her mouth, she looked up at the door and the secretary hadn't come back. Clicking her tongue in annoyance, she bent down and gathered the papers.

She straightened her back and was about to put down the file when she caught Lilly's name on the gibberish words written in the familiar pearl white paper that his father uses. A crease appeared on her brows, as she hurriedly snapped photos of the documents.

She was shoving her phone back into her bag when the secretary came back with her bottled water. It appeared that they didn't have her brand and the secretary had to get her water from the next office.

"You're so slow!" She walked fast here, grabbing the water bottle from her hand, not giving her a glance.

The secretary was taken aback by her mood but didn't say anything.

She hurried to the lounge because she couldn't wait to read the content of the contract that has Lilly's name on it. While snapping photos of the documents, she saw Matthew's name and her curiosity shot up. Her heartbeat was racing and a devious smile was playing on her lips.

She knew even before she read the paper that she had in her possession, what she stumbled on in her father's office was something huge!

She had been having a terrible day since their graduation vacation in Mykonos, Andrei being so busy, Lilly coming to her house announcing her secret wedding to Matthew, expecting her to share her whiny attitude to her fortune as if the world was being unfair to her. The bitch had no idea how lucky she was. She had the audacity to complain that her father married her off to a man whose looks can make any Hollywood-proclaimed hottie into an ugly one because Matthew Grays was not just deliciously handsome but most importantly an heir to a business empire. A man should not just have good looks, he must have the money to go with it too.

One of the staff in the lounge recognized her the moment she stepped inside the cafe and with quick steps welcomed her to the store.

"Young miss, what can we do for you today?"

In her good mood, she gave her a sweet smile and she almost snorted when she saw the surprise on the employee's face.

"A table where I can't be disturbed and a slice of my favorite sweet and a cup of black coffee," she said sweetly at the man.

She saw the tinge of redness in his face before he lowered his face and turned around to lead her to one of the VIP tables next to a potted Monstera.

He pulled the chair for her and scurried to get her order.

With a smile on her face, she opened her water bottle and took a sip of it. She pulled her phone from her bag and with shaky hands, she opened her phone gallery. She sent the photos she took in her email just to keep them safe. She doesn't intend to keep such important things on her phone after reading them.

She didn't want any disturbance once she read the documents that she stole from her father's office so she waited for the waiter to serve her order before she started reading them. Her first reaction was shock and a little pity towards Lilly. However, the further she read along with the file, her smile widened and her eyes twinkled in excitement.

Tiffany was so engrossed scrolling her phone that she was unaware that all of the staff in the cafe were throwing her an odd glance for they never saw her smile or be polite ever.
