They say the world is full of surprises. Something completely unexpected could happen at any time. They call it fate.
Kyle knew the green button could do anything. It could surprise him by doing something unexpected, and that's what it did.
The colar around his neck got colder, too cold. He could have sworn it was colder than ice. The sudden cold made him hiss as he touched the colar.
Was the button for killing him? His whole body reacted by shaking uncontrollably. It was too cold. He tried pushing the button again, but it didn't do anything. Maybe it even got worse.
Without any strength to think, he tried his best to get out of the room and head for the living room.
Calista and Leah were catching up, one could see the obvious glint in Calista's eyes. There was a reason Leah was considered her best friend rather than Nolan or Ria. They were perfect for each other, not letting the obvious secrets between them get to them.
When Calista first saw Kyle, she didn't think much of it, but then she noticed his trembling. It was hard to not notice and Leah and Nolan, who was standing at a corner, could see it too.
"Help..." Kyle whispered. To say they were all worried would be an understatement. The person before them seemed to be dying.
Calista quickly noticed the guide in his hands. She could finally guess what had happened. The green button was supposed to be fatal, but she didn't know how.
Quickly, she pressed her bracelet and one could see Kyle's face becoming calmer. However, he still fell unconscious.
Leah was first to react. She ran towards him and when she touched him, her eyes widened. "He is so cold," she said in shock. Calista was also a bit shocked. When she saw him with his pale face and almost lifeless eyes...
"I'll take care of him. You should leave now. Come see him another day," Calista said. Leah also thought it was best to leave now, and that's what she did.
After Leah left, Calista singlehandedly lifted the man and took him to his room. She didn't know what happened, but she didn't like it.
She had studied the colar and now knew almost every detail about it. The green button was supposed to kill Kyle if pressed. It was supposed to be used when the owner wanted to get rid of their product. Moreover, when the owner died the bracelet would detect it and the green button would automatically be turned on.
It was a scary button. "How could you be so stupid?" She asked the unconscious man. The room was set to high temperature and he was also in heavy blankets. It was torture to someone like Calista who loved the cold.
"You know I must punish you now?" She sighed, "I am a person of my word."
She felt stupid for talking to an unconscious person. How did she get so below her standards?
The sun is said to always shine alone. Many use it as an inspiration to their lonely souls. However, I will not linger in that area.
Kyle was woken up by the strong rays making him frown deeply. He hated the sun. When he opened his eyes opened, he realized how extremely hot the place was. He was covered in heavy blankets. He was covered in his sticky sweat!
Kyle immediately took a bath before leaving the room. He could vaguely remember what had happened the previous day for him to lose consciousness. It seemed he would see the so called punishment sooner than expected.
He sighed. The image of him being a punching bag again was scary.
On his way to the dinning room, because he was extremely hungry, he bumped into Nolan. As usual, Nolan had a polite smile. "Good morning sir?" Nolan greeted politely.
"I told you, don't call me that. You may get yourself fired," Kyle said sincerely. What if that woman heard him one day?
"Don't worry sir, I will be fine." This time, Kyle didn't bother correcting him. He wanted to know where that woman was.
"Where did that..." Kyle paused, rule number four appearing in mind. He wanted to say that woman. "Ma..." Before he could say madam, he remembered her forbidding every single name apart from one. If he called her anything else, Nolan was sure to tell.
"Where is my master?" Kyle asked in a small voice, his ears tingling in embarrassment.
