Of course, being that I'm fifteen, I have never been in a bar before. This experience is all too new to me, so in all honesty, I'm rather excited to see what a bar was like. The bar is dimly lit with a strange, red lighting. The bar has red walls and a wooden floor with an orange hue. A man is turned around, playing the piano, and the customers are drinking quietly.
"What the heck are those kids doing in here?" A drunk man snobbishly asks.
"Hush, Red. We serve every demon the same," says the demon who let us in. I peer at their name tag, it reads "Zoey." A female demon wearing a bar waitress outfit.
"Would you like anything to drink?" Zoey asks.
"Oh, um...I shouldn't," I stammar.
Zoey laughs in response. "Non-alcoholic drinks, silly," she replies.
"Oh…yeah…that makes more sense," I sheepishly reply. "Uhh…can I get a soda please?" I apprehensively ask. Zoey nods at me with a smile, before taking everyone else's orders. Lycan insists on getting water since he loses control if he consumes too much caffeine or sugar.
Zoey comes back a few minutes later and hands us our drinks. "Enjoy!" She says, then walks away.
"This is...really weird," I whisper to the others. Lycan is too busy sipping away on his water to respond.
"I agree. We were assigned a mission in which we were supposed to kill hoards of high ranking demons in this bar. But there's only like...four people in here, and I'm not even sure if they're demons!" Ivy cries.
"Shh!" I snap. "We can't reveal our identity! It's weird enough that we're sitting here, in a bar for demons!"
"Lycan, can you smell anything?" Jamie asks.
"Bold you to assume that I have the enhanced sense of smell of a wolf in my human state," Lycan replies. "But yeah, I do, but still, very bold of you to assume so." Lycan looks up and sniffs the air. "There is a strong scent of alcohol over behind that door," Lycan says as he points to a door in the corner of the bar. The four of us inch closer to the door, where we can hear the muffled sound of blasting music from behind it. Underneath the crack between the door and the floor, I can see flashing rainbow lights.
"Lycan, it's a bar. Of course it'll reek of alcohol!" Jamie cries.
"No, but it's really potent. And sweat," Lycan explains. "And also…something else that I can't mention…"
Ew.
"Should we...go in?" Ivy asks.
I peer over at the others. We shrug and head towards the door. But before we can enter, a drunk man says: "I wouldn't go in there." It's the drunk demon that Zoey referred to as "Red."
I turn to face Red, raise an eyebrow at him, then turn back around to face the door again. I take a deep breath in…then out, and I push the door open. What the four of us see on the other side, is…horrifying.
The four of us open the door that Lycan pointed at us too, and I finally smell the scent of alcohol that he was referring to. The reek of alcohol filled my nostrils and burnt my nose with their stench. I got a headache just beginning there. Hell, I think I have second hand drukness or something. In this back room, loud party music is blasting, and the lights are off. At least, the normal lights of the room were off. Instead, various colored strobes lights loom overhead, blinking rapidly and hurting my eyesight. I look over to Lycan, who seems to be twitching more than usual. Bartenders walk around, frantically handing people drinks. The stage is filled with, er, demon stripers. And then I noticed the strangest part. It's hard to see in this awkward lighting, but the customers… they are in their full demon forms. Grotesque Figures with black horns, hooves, and tails dance around. They have unnatural body shapes, body proportions, hair color and eye color. My stomach grows queasy from the sight.
Which was ironic considering how I look.
Hah! It's like my home turf in here, my natural environment.
"It's...a demon rave…" Ivy mutters.
"Hah! I guess these demons know how to party!" Jamie snorts.
"So...do we get to killing?" I ask.
"Well that is our mission, isn't it?" Lycan replies. The rest of us are silent. We're greatly outnumbered.
"If we try anything, we die," I say.
"This… this is horrifying," Ivy whimpers. "These...things...and so many of them…"
Our wipers are interrupted when a demon walks up to us. "Come on, let your horns out!" The demon teases as she walks up behind me, nuts to buts, and caresses my head, where my "horns" should be.
The demon is naked
I know this isn't a human or anything, but heh heh…a naked woman is a naked woman, afterall. Hee hee…I'm beginning to like this mission.
"Luis, your excitement is showing," Jamie teases, leaving me star struck as the demon laughs and walks away from me.
Another naked female demon bartender forces a drink into our hands. "Enjoy," she seductively whispers as she caresses my cheek. Is it…because I'm a powerful half demon? That I'm attracting these demons?!
I sniff the drink then recoil at the scent. "How can anyone drink this stuff?" I mutter to myself as I take a bite of the olive on a toothpick that's in the drink, then sets the glass down on a nearby table.
Lycan is twitching like crazy, so much so that he can barely drink. The glass slips out of Lycan's shaking hand and drops to the ground, shattering into hundreds of pieces with a loud crash, which is drowned out by the booming music.
"Are you okay?" Ivy asks as she grabs Lycan's shoulders. She has to shout over the music for Lycan to hear her. Lycan doesn't reply, he just shakes his head profusely.
"Let's retreat. Lycan doesn't feel well and quite frankly, there is no way that we are completing this mission, not with just the three of us, at least," Ivy pleads.
"I...I really don't like failing missions," I reply. "But you're right, we should go get Ella and Grover, at the very least."
We turn to exit this rave room, but that's when Lycan finally snaps. Lycan lets out a mighty howl, one so intense that it even drowns out the pounding music. Lycan then crouches down to all fours. White fur starts to grow across his body as Lycan's clothes are ripped to shreds. Lycan's pupils dilate and turn brown like a wolf's. Lycan's arms and legs slowly transition into that of a beast, and claws sprout out of his fingers and toes. Lycan's nose and mouth extend into a snout, and ears sprout at the top of Lycan's head as his human ears wither away. Lycan's black hair turns snow white. He's fully turned into a wolf.
"Woah, I did not expect to see that!" I cry as I stumble backwards. I peer over at Ivy, who's busy wiping the excitement off her face from after seeing the naked Lycan. What?
Lycan then lets out a loud, long howl, demanding the attention of everyone in the room, and instantly, the music stops. Every single eye turns right towards Lycan, and then the demon's begin to clap and cheer, congratulating Lycan, as the music loudly resumes. These demons, they just…assumed that Lycan is one of them?
"The loud noise, the flashing lights, the horrible scents, it all must have reached Lycan. He has bad anxiety and when it fires up badly, he transforms into his wolf form," Ivy explains as she pulls her flute out of her backpack. "Things are about to get messy."
"Hey, Lycan, calm down!" I cry.
"It's no use, Luis. Now that Lycan is this feral state, all we can do is use my flute to control him until he passes out," Ivy explains. Ivy puts her flute to her lips and begins to play. Lycan instantly sits down, like a statue.
I've never seen a wolf in person before. Lycan is so fluffy, so...cute! I kinda want to pet it but him, but it feels...wrong.
Ivy then removes the flute from her lips. "I calmed him down, for now. What do you want to do? Should we take Lycan and get on out of here?" Jamie asks.
"Yeah, that sounds like a plan," I answer.
Or at least, that's what I wanted to say.
But I'm interrupted by a loud crash, as the door behind us bursts open. And behind us, Ella and Grover walk in.
"Oh my…that's a lot of demons…" Ella whimpers.
"And Luis was gettin' cozy with 'em!" Jamie laughs, causing Ella to shoot daggers at me.
"What did I do?!" I cry.
"Weren't you guys supposed to have slayed most of these by now?!" Grover snaps.
"There's too many to slay alone!" Jamie snaps back.
"Is that wolf…" Ella begins to ask.
"Lycan," Ivy answers.
"Our team is falling apart," I sigh. "I knew a joint-squad mission was a bad idea!"
The second that Ella and Grover enter the room, the music stopped, the lights turn on, and pretty soon, every single pair of demon eyes were on us yet again.
