Elaine felt angry with that thought and pushed herself away from his arms, startling Hayford.

"What is there to talk about, Hayford?" She demanded. "Look, I won't be coming here again and this is the last time I'm bringing you food. And please, don't come looking for me. I really need to be alone."

Elaine rattled as fast as she could and turned to leave. She knew she had been harsh but yeah. She didn't care. He would be leaving soon anyway. She wouldn't see him again so she might as well vent and get her emotion in check.

But before she reached the door and could turn the knob, Hayford spoke.

"I'll be leaving in two weeks." Hayford said much to Elaine's surprise, her hands on the door knob tightened and her whole body stiffened.

In two weeks? That soon?!

She refused to turn to look at Hayford's face. She couldn't bring herself to. Because right now she knew she would cry. And she didn't want to. No!
