Because of that, he became a hikikomori, a shut-in. When he turned sixteen, he was adopted by a rich couple who loved him as if he was their own son. Unfortunately, they died in a plane crash, and Kazuichi never overcame his bad habits of being a shut-in, largely because of his preying relatives. Fast forward to four years later, Takemi Kazuichi still stayed in the house left by his late parents. He never bothered going to work or going out to socialize with people. For the lack of a better term, he was a rich hikikomori. He never even bothered to check the news or log in on any social media. All he did was live his life in solitude, devoid of any human interaction. One day, as he came out of the shower, he heard a strange thumping sound by the doorway. "That's weird, I didn't order any delivery today." He told himself before absent-mindedly opening the door. And what stared back didn't resemble a human at all. It was a zombie— or so that's what the first thing that came into Kazuichi's mind. Unbeknownst to him, the world had drastically changed, and he was the last one to know.

Dear readers, DaisukiDayoSenpai here,

Once again, I would like to express my gratitude for your support for this novel. Because of you guys, I was able to snag third place in the WPC that I joined. That's right, this book, SOTD, won bronze. You might have noticed it in the Synopsis section but I figured I'd just announce it here.

Winning third place in WPC is pretty big since that would increase my chances of getting a contract. I will update you guys if ever I receive the contract. I'm planning to release at least forty to fifty chapters before I sign it though, just in case.

Please look forward to the novel. I'm really glad that there are two hundred collections right now for this novel and we're averaging twenty or so power stones per week. We can rise higher. I hope you'll continue to support me.

In the next few chapters, I'll be expanding on the world of SOTD, and with it comes new characters, and information dumps. Not too much though since it would be a pain for me to keep track of a lot of info.

There won't be any update today since I need to catch up on sleep (I've been pulling up all-nighters for the past month, trying to prep for midterms next week) but I'll upload a somewhat longer chapter tomorrow.
