Sherlock Holmes: The Grand Escape

Sherlock Holmes in Marvel. While stuck in a metaverse dimension, Sherlock realizes that he is a fictional character in a fictional reality. His personality does not allow him to be controlled by anyone and thus begins the escape of the great detective. The detective will definitely solve all problems to reach reality. He is after all Sherlock Holmes. Follow along as he goes through different fictional worlds as he finds his way to the real one. The start of this story was inspired by the Deadpool Killustrated comic. So yeah I do not own the characters.

A Cane and A rapier

~~Sherlock POV~~

Walking into the room with all the artifacts in glass cases, I was wondering what kind of artifact I would get. The idea of an object choosing its owner is quite fascinating though.

"Try to feel the connection as you move around." I could hear the Ancient One speak. She seems oddly spirited today. Does she enjoy the excitement of this process?

I could see all kinds of weapons and weirdly shaped objects. I wasn't sure what I wanted from here but a weapon or something convenient to carry around would be nice.

Oh! I feel like something buzzed? I should close my eyes and concentrate.

"Looks like you already feel it. Try to deepen that feeling and communicate with the artifact" I'm doing as she says, and it does feel like the feeling is getting stronger.

*Crash* What was that? Glass shattering? Something's coming!

I instinctively put my hand forward and grab at it. It was a cane! It's brownish-black with a sleek polish. There are golden patterns on its handle but nothing ostentatious. The handle looks like a mythical dragon's head though.

"It does match my style. But a magic cane is not much of a weapon for combat I guess." I say to the Ancient One.

"It's a good artifact. Fell into this world from another one. It doesn't have a name but if you twist the handle a little, press on the dragon head, and pull, you should find a sword similar to a rapier, made of metal as strong as some of the strongest found on earth. As an addition, the cane itself works as a staff too."

Looking at how she was speaking about it, it does sound like a fine artifact. "I'll make good use of it. Now I'll go deal with my new magic." After getting a nod from her, I am back to practice.

~~POV END~~

Sherlock knew that the ideaverse was a place where the energy took shape in any form it needed to create the ideas. Adding to the fact that he seemed to be adaptable to any form of energy, he hypothesized that he could use the idea-energy, as he named it, could be used to take any form he wanted.

The experiment itself was a success. But he realized that he needed a lot of time to get the energy to work as he intends when it is brought into reality. In the ideaverse, even though he couldn't gather a lot at least he could mold it and use it however he wanted.

Also, the conversion of the energy required active effort which was taxing on him. While other sorcerers could just do the spells and use the energy. He needed to add an extra step of converting the energy too. It's like others are driving their cars on petrol but he not only has to drive but also has to process the petrol while driving.

With enough practice, his superhuman brain should make it easier on him and put his spell casting time at the same level as the top masters. But at least he didn't have to hide from supreme beings, except the Vishanti, they're probably already aware.

He decided that he would practice until he is proficient, which should be a few months to a year. In the meantime, he should also continue astral projecting into the ideaverse and experiment.

An interesting this he found out was that in his astral projection form, the ideas he could see floating around were too few. Upon further investigation, he realized that now he could only see the ideas within the reality he was. (A/N; Marvel)

Although, it was fewer than the time he was in the ideaverse with his real body, the ideas related to his reality were still millions upon millions and new ones kept popping out often.

He needed to find a way to narrow down and collect the ideas in chronological order. If he can do that, he would have a better handle on the future and can plan better.

He thought that if he had some kind of precognition ability, he might be able to… 'What if I use the eye of agomotto's power in conjunction with the ideaverse and use myself as an anchor? If I can develop a spell to peer through time as myself as an anchor in the ideaverse then it might be possible to see through the ideas related to the reality I am in, and that too chronologically.'

'My involvement and knowledge would inevitably change the future but at least I would have a general direction and an inkling of the threats to come.'

But for all that to be possible, he could only research and practice right now. He still needed to develop a spell and find a way to borrow the eye of agomotto from the sorcerer supreme. Since he has no real way of achieving all that right now, he could only practice and keep working on the spell.

[1 year time skip- 1879]

Sherlock finally ended his training. He could've done the training elsewhere too but he'd rather be hidden under Vishanti's shadow until he could completely hide the idea-energy than have to fight some god.

During this time, Sherlock was able to half complete the spell and increase the amount of idea energy he could access. Although it was slightly below a master level, he made up with the versatility of its use.

Sherlock was sure that within Kamar-Taj he wouldn't lose in a magic battle to anyone other than the Sorcerer Supreme herself. And with this confidence, he went back to England, through a portal.
