The next day the sun bloomed brightly and the gentle breeze made the beautiful curtains dance elegantly to the morning quiet wind.
Audrey yawned and stretched lazily on her bed before she saw her mate walked towards the closet,
"Hi ,Morning. You didn't come back from work last night"she asked cheerfully.
He ignored her like a filthy air and walked away
"Just forget it, Audrey. What the point of talking to him.when he is nothing but an asshole" she cursed under her breath and jumped out of bed.
The servant knocked quietly and announced the invitation by Luna to join the breakfast.
"Greeting your highness, Her majesty the Luna asked for you and the princess to join the Royal banquet" a female thin voice said loudly.
"Alright tell my mother ,I will be there" he answered back calmly.
Audrey got up quickly from the bed and raced like a scared kitten to her closet. She had to tidy up and dressed decent
princess for the banquet.
Inside the huge dining hall with massive
golden Chandelier towering down to the endless long vanity table edged with beautiful Royal fur seats.
The new couple walked in elegantly looking gorgeous , while standing next together.
"Greetings father , Greetings Mother" they chorus in unison and instantly had head turned towards their direction
"Don't they look beautiful together, mother?" Little princess Anabelle giggled loudly.
"I know they are perfect for each other. A lively beauty with my cold hearted son makes a nice combination. I can't wait to start having my grandson around" the elegant Queen said proudly.
'Come here Audrey sit next to me " the woman giggled
"Yes mother " she bowed and walked up to the beautiful lady.
While Marvin had his seat next to his father.
The hall was filled with tense silence for Audrey ,who was scared not to embarrass herself. She smiled awkwardly while trying hard to fit into Mavin's Mate role in front of his family.
"You welcome Audrey into our humble abode. I hope you and my son become wonderful and support each other. Have you been enjoying your stay here" The Alpha said calmly yet majestically.
"Yes father, I must say you have a beautiful palace. The natural beauty is worth drooling for. I do enjoy my stay here. I am just not happy but honored to be here, "Audrey said politely.
"I am glad you love it here" he said smiling.
"Let's make a toast to a wonderful and beautiful union of my son and his mate" he raised his glass and everyone on the table did the same.
"To a happy and beautiful union" they all chroused and there was a loud clunk.
Audrey eyed the delicious meals, rare tasty fruits and mouth watering wine arranged for the breakfast.
" Their pack is indeed wealthier than my pack, where I came from. Judging from their wealthy lifestyle and clothing" she marveled at the thought.
She was still lost in thought when someone broke it with shocking words.
"After this, let 's chat about your hot night with my son . How has he been in bed? I want every detail of the steamy session but you two so as to know if I can be expecting my grandson soon" the woman said and laughed out hysterically.
Audrey turned pale at her words and
instantly buried her head in shame,, she could hardly digest it while Mavin coughed dryly and gupped down his wine.
Another person who seems not pleased and uncomfortable by Luna's words is Elvin.
He shifted uncontrollably in his seat , while his face said it all , he tightened his fist trying hard to stop the anger in him.
"Why am I feeling this way? It is unreasonable, she is Mavin's Mate . I don't deserve to feel this way" he scolded himself.
"Are you okay brother. It seems you got choked or something ,with that red-faced of yours . Did you food going into the wrong pipe" his little sister mocked loudly
"Shut up Kiara. Only monkeys like you talk while eating" he taunted back.
"You disgustingly annoying" princess Kiara fired back
"Alright stop it will you two" the mother scolded them lightly.
Melvin recalled what Martin had told him yesterday about Elvin .
"What the heck is the relationship between these two?" he eyed his mate and turned to glare at Elvin.
"Melvin, did you work on the flooding report from Maoin province?"the Alpha asked, changing the topic.
"Yes father," he said politely.
"How far about it " the Alpha took a bite into his mutton.
" The drainage system has been so poor that it needs to be reconstructed again in earnest for the upcoming rain, " he replied.
"Okay, you should work on that" the Alpha ordered.
"Maybe you should work on the local officers at district also" Elvin added thoughtfully ,shrugging his arm
"What?" Malvin raised his dark brown ,annoyance was written boldly on his face.
"I am just saying, these peasant farmers from their little harvest pay taxes annually only for them to be given poorly constructed drainage. It not just fares their hard work and farm produce perish daily and taxes are forcefully collected"
"Are you suggesting I don't know how to deal with my work" Mavin flared up
" I am not teaching you what to do. But saying the whole system just seems corrupt and no one is looking at it that way.If the main source of the problem isn't tackled we will still end up with poorly constructed drainage, temples, market, hospital and other public buildings everyday" he explained thoughtfully.
"Wow, very good , Amazing!. I knew you were a wise man the moment I meant you and you will make a wise king cause you not only have the heart of the people but could understand their suffering"Audrey said loudly and clapped in awe.
Unknowing the gravity of her words and how it harder coals of fury into Mavin's burning rage.

Yeah maybe he would have been a nice partner to cheat with too" he glared at her.
