After saying that, Veronica walked out of the room leaving Aurora with her thoughts. She immediately shook her head when she could feel herself slipping back into her depressive state.
As long as Xavier hadn't pushed her away, she wasn't going to give up on him. Even if Veronica had higher chances of being with him, she wasn't going to give up because Xavier wouldn't want her to give up so easily. He wanted her to be strong and from now on, she was going to be strong. At least she was going to try.
Minutes later, her parents walked back into the room with bags and trays of food.
"We checked your room, my love and all the food we sent to you are rotting in the corner. Why were you so hell-bent on killing yourself?" Roseline murmured as she sat down on the bed with a frown.
"I'm sorry mama, it won't happen again. I'm starving by the way. What did you both get? My favorite?" Nikolas nodded with a smile then Roseline helped her sit up on the bed before they placed the tray of food in front of her.
"We got you snacks too just in case. Your mother and I have a really important meeting to attend to right now but we wanted to make sure you were okay first" She nodded with a smile.
"I feel so much better so don't worry about me" Roseline nodded then handed her a book she had gotten for her earlier.
"This just arrived this morning and I thought you might like to read it" Aurora squealed when she saw the book. It was the one she had been waiting for.
"I can't wait to start this" Roseline smiled then leaned in and placed a kiss on her forehead.
"Your birthday is coming up. What would you like to do? Do you want us to throw a big birthday party?" Nikolas muttered but Aurora shook her head with a smile.
"I only have one friend so I think a big party is completely unnecessary" Aurora knowing fully well they knew who she was talking about when she said "One friend".
Even though her heart was beating wildly because she was anticipating what they would say, she tried to maintain her composure on the outside.
"We'll talk about this your new found friendship when you're all better" Nikolas muttered and without saying anything else, he walked out of the room which made Roseline sighed and Aurora frown.
"Don't mind your father. He's just worried about you and doesn't want you getting hurt but if you feel like Xavier is truly your friend and he makes you happy, I have no problem with that but Aurora, he's a demigod. You need to get rid of the crush you have on him because it's never going to work out. He has lived for many years, Aurora and I really don't want to say this but he'll probably be looking for a more experienced lady and you my dear, you're innocent. Unfit for a demigod so please, stop this infatuation with him" Aurora frowned then but her lower lip trying to hold back her tears. Her mother's word hit too close to home and was almost exactly what Veronica said.
"Mother, I'm not infatuated neither is it a crush. When I don't see him or hear from him, I feel alone. I like him so much mother, it just happened naturally and I tried to stop it but I couldn't" Roseline bowed down her head as she tried hiding her tears.
"My dear Please" Aurora sighed.
"Can I be alone, mother? Please" Roseline sniffled then nodded before getting up from the bed.
"I'll come later to check up on you, Okay?" Aurora nodded then watched as her mother walked out of the room before letting out a sigh.
Was she really infatuated? Did she really just have only a crush on Xavier? If that was the case then she can try to stop it because she didn't like feeling this way. Although she had told herself that she was going to fight for him earlier, she wasn't feeling so confident anymore and knowing the person you liked would never like you back was the worst feeling.
But if it really was infatuation then how was she supposed to get rid of it?
She suddenly nodded with determination before climbing out of the bed. She needed to have a talk with Xavier and make sure he didn't have any feelings for her before moving on.
She peeped out of her door and sighed when she saw several guards standing outside. How was she supposed to leave then? Gosh how she wished she could summon Xavier here somehow.
"How are you doing that?" She shrieked then turned around with wide eyes and gasped when she saw Xavier staring at her with confusion on her face.
"How… how are you here?" He shrugged.
"That's what I've been trying to ask myself. You seem to be summoning me, how? No one has ever been able to do that" Could it be because of his blood she was drinking?
She stared at him for a while then walked closer to him and poked his arm just to make sure he was really there and gasped. He really was here.
She glanced at his side and saw that the stake was still in fact sticking out of his side. Could she really have summoned him? This was the perfect time to ask him what she wanted… right?
"Xavier? I like you" She took a deep breath when she saw him tense up but the stoic expression on his face didn't change.
"I've liked you for a while and I know you know that. Do you… do you like me back?" He stared down at her then sighed.
"You're seventeen" She shrugged.
"I'll be eighteen in a few days and age doesn't matter now. Do you like me was the question" His eyes widened at her persistence. This was the first time he had seen her this way.
"No" That simple word broke her heart into pieces. She already knew the answer before he said it but it hurt more to hear it.
"Can I hug you?" He shook his head but she moved closer and wrapped her arms around his waist despite his protest.
"I'm going… I'm going to try and get over my feelings for you, Xavier because I don't want the friendship we have to be destroyed because I like you. It's going to be hard but I'll try my best" He glanced down at her head that was buried on his chest then sighed when he felt her tears seeping through his shirt.
"Why are you crying?" She sniffled then glanced up at him.
"Because in order for me to get over you, I have to limit the time I spend with you and that's the hardest part because when I wake up in the morning, you're the first person I think of" She didn't know why she was saying all these and by the look on Xavier's face, he didn't expect her to say all that either but she wanted to get everything off her chest.
"Will you let me kiss you?" She suddenly asked and he gasped slightly and tried pushing her away but she stood on her tiptoes and slammed her lips on his.
