Shattered World: Shadows of Ilrathia

In the late 90's, with the advent of the original VR systems, a boom was created in the virtual reality industry. By 2025, VR gained a place throughout many sectors, from entertainment to manufacturing, even design, VR was being used. The rise of Virtual Reality also caused a massive rise in the popularity of e-sports. Instead of sitting at consoles or computers playing the games, players were now able to actually be in the game, causing them to have to learn a whole new way of thinking and skillset. By 2050, companies around the world started to sponsor their own groups that were designed to train the next generation of pro players, often times these companies brought on retired pro players as trainers, coaches, or managers for the teams. Now a new game company, Shadow Lands Entertainment, has come out of nowhere with a new game, releasing the closed Beta to only the top 200,000 players in the world, making an average of the top 1,000 players from 200 countries of the world.

"To say that everything is permitted is to understand that we are the architects of our actions and that we must live with our consequences, whether glorious or tragic."

As Cyn went through the portal, the robed figure smirks as he watches him vanish. "Good luck too you Cynder Ebonflame, or shall we call you Cyndrex, the Runic Shadow? We'll just have to wait and see, but first, some gifts." Reaching into the robe he pulls out a bag that looks a bit like a real world sling style messenger pack. Making a quick gesture with one hand the bag vanishes as the smirk transforms into a grin.

"What are you planning, sir? If it's meant to cause issues in this world, I will have to stop you, even if you are my creator."

Turning towards where the voice came from, the figure reaches up and pushes back the hood of his robe, revealing a face that shows neither old age or youth, instead appearing to be frozen at its prime. Silver-blue eyes peer at the other figure for a moment before he raises a hand to caress a covered by a goatee in the same color of his platinum blonde hair.

"Don't worry, this won't cause any issues, just watch." Turning to look where the arches once say, a faint smile plays across his lips before giving a shake of his head. "Let that young pup of a protege of mine know that the game is on, that my money is on that young man and his friends for the top spots on the leader boards." With those words, his form slowly faded from view.

"Wow, the detail is amazing."

"Have you heard the rumors? Apparently Boundless Alliance is going to be recruiting soon."

"What? Where are they going to be recruiting at? I want to join them. I heard that even new recruits get treated well."

"Well, I heard that if you pass their tests, that you will get to join the main guild and be invited to stay at their headquarters."

After stepping through the portal, the first thing to come to Jacyn was the sound of voices talking in the square. Grinning to himself as he could finally see around him, his eyes widen in surprise. 'This game is fantastic. The detail is exquisite and the architecture fits so well with what I love to design in games. I wonder if their is an architect profession in game.' Continuing to look around at the wood and stone buildings, taking in the detail and craftsmanship.

Giving a shake of his head he glances around the square before noticing the sign above the edit of one of the buildings. 'That will be the perfect place to have everyone meet up at.' Starting in the direction of what's he can see to be a tavern, a voice whispers in his ear. "Did you not see me out hear me?" Turning his head to look, he grins as he sees the pixie on his shoulder. "You know, when you're that small.."

Ding!!!

[You have received a gift from a mysterious stranger.]

Stopping and looking at the bag that appears in his hands, his brow furrows in puzzlement.

"Cyn what is it? Where did that bag come from?" His sister stomps a tiny foot on his shoulder to try to get his attention.

"I don't know, but we'll look when we get into that tavern." Motioning in the direction that they're heading, he pauses momentarily too look at the sign before heading inside. "Contact everyone and let them know to meet at the Drunken Dwarf Tavern." Hearing a high pitched laugh he glances over at his sister and shakes head.

"Geesh, the naming sense..." As they enter the place as they hear deep, drunken voices singing off key. Glancing at each other, it was like looking in the mirror as the look on their faces was identical as they tried to keep from laughing. "Well, nevermind." His sister responds as she finally gets control of herself. "I'll let everyone know, don't worry."

Giving a nod, he stops and glances over at her. "Also, spread word that we'll be opening up for recruitment in an hour. Afterwards, well go get registered with the Adventurer's Guild and get started." Her eyes seem to go vacant as she starts contacting everyone.

Walking towards the bar, he grins as he sees the dwarf standing behind it. "Excuse me, do you have a private room where I can meet up with members of my company?"

Looking over at him, the dwarf's eyes narrow as he looks him over. "Hmm, what are ya, and why would ya want to use me tavern ta meet up with yer people? As the dwarf speaks, all sound goes quiet as the hands of the previously 'drunken' dwarves go towards their weapons.

"I'm a member of Clan Stoneheart, dragonborn Scion of the clan's dragon guardian, Syntherex." Lifting his hand he shows the signet ring that he wears. "My name is Cynder Ebonflame, scion of the Deep Elf House Ebonflame."

As he finishes the introduction, one of the dwarves walks over to him with a grin. "Aye, I know yer clan." Turning to look over at the bartender. "The lad's a good one, me clan is beholden to Clan Stoneheart. I'll vouch for him. Let 'em use tha room ya durned fool."

The dwarf behind the bar scowls for a moment then gives a nod. "If yerself vouches for him then fine." Eyeing Jacyn he shakes his head and mutters under his breath. "A strange one, but with all the problems popping up, maybe him and all these new Heroes that are showing up in the city might be able to help."

Hearing this, Jacyn glances at his sister to see that she's still focused on contacting people, he turns back to the dwarf. "Did you say problems? Is there anything I can help with?" The dwarf gives a nod as do a couple of grimy dwarves that look as of they just came from the smithy, or even possibly the mines.

"Aye, but first ya need to get yerself registered with the Adventurer's Guild. Once ya do that, we can tell ya more."

Giving a nod of understanding Jacyn continues to look at him and waits.

"What are ya staring at you fool? Are ya stone blind?" The dwarf growls out as he stares back.

"The room?"

"Oh, aye. It's down those stairs. No need ta worry either. The area is warded to protect from anyone trying to listen in. And before you ask, it'll be no charge. Me wife would kill me if I were to charge ya fer the room."

After the conversation with the dwarves, Jacyn glances around for a moment before noticing the stairs. Heading down the stairs, Jacyn opens the door from the landing and walks in.
