Non-Human?

The next day, Zach was drinking warm coffee in his wooden chair while reading the news paper. There's nothing special. Emma was also clearing the dining table.

At that moment there was a knock on the door, Zach stood up and saw a man's silhouette visible through the frosted glass on the door. Zach opened it and it was a familiar face.

"Captain?" Zach greeted the man.

A tall man, a tall round hat and neat clothes. On his left hand are two spear-shaped metal necklaces. His withered hair was visible from between his hat. His Blue Eyes showed a pained expression as it stared at Zach without speaking.

After a while, the Man spoke up "Zach, can you come with me first?" Dellon Daxter said as he stared at Zach's face with a strange expression.

Zach looked back at his captain, he started to feel something was off. His mind was starting to get distracted.

The corners of his lips trembled when he saw the two necklaces held by Dellon. It was a necklace belonging to his colleagues, Ben and Kyle. From behind him, Emma appeared curiously. "Who's that?"

Zach turned around and showed a smile that was the complete opposite of what he was thinking right now.

"My captain, looks like I have some work to do. May I leave for a moment?" Zach said to ask his wife's permission.

"Mr Daxter? If it's important then that's fine." Emma was still wearing her white apron.

Zach came into the living room and grabbed his black round hat and put it on. After that he stopped in front of Emma. Zach kissed Emma on the forehead saying "I'll be home soon"

she nodded.

Zach and Dellon left the area where he lived. On the way, Zach started to feel strange again. He started the conversation by asking, "Captain, is there a problem?" He asked to confirm Dellon's purpose for calling him.

Dellon kept walking on the path, glancing occasionally at Zach until he said, "I'm sorry I disturbed your time off, but..." Dellon stopped walking, in front of them was a horse carriage.

A bullet mark is visible above the horse's head. Zach started to get goosebumps. "Captain, can you be more specific?" Zach didn't move despite seeing Dellon riding on one of the horses.

"We're going to the gate now, you should see it in person. I can't explain it" Dellon didn't dare to look at Zach.

After a while, they arrived at the gate. People gathered at the gate, a yellow rope stretched around the gate. Some of the other gatekeepers were chatting with each other, some were crying and some couldn't even see.

Among the people, several police officers who shouldn't be on duty at the gate could be seen. Zach dismounted, pushed his way through the crowd and stared ahead.

Same view as before. Kyle was lying on the ground with an arrow through his eye. Ben was hanging from the wall with an almost rusty sword stuck in his neck.

Zach stared blankly, his memory flashing back to the moment the black figure choked and pierced his chest and grabbed his heart. The pain came back vaguely like a clear memory.

"What is this?" Zach said in a low tone.

Dellon held Zach's shoulder and said with concern,"Something bad happened to both of them, right now there's no information that can lead to a reasonable conclusion"

"This has been labeled as a murder case, Vilion is being interrogated inside" Dellon pointed to a black tent beside the gate.

"Why is Vilion being interrogated?" Zack said with a still frightened face.

"As you can see, the sword stuck in Ben's neck and the arrow stuck in Kyle are weapons from the storeroom" Dellon said explaining.

The armory had not even been opened for decades and could only be opened by gatekeepers. Because of that the detective who handled this case concluded that the culprit was part of the Gate Keeper himself.

Even though he wasn't completely sure, Zach already knew what was going on. Whether it was a dream or a hallucination, Zach knew very well that it was related to the death of his comrades.

"That does make sense, we speculated that it was another city that attacked or carried out this murder. Kyle and Ben were just trying to fight back. But in the end it became an almost impossible possibility. Why use ancient weapons like swords or arrows?" Dellon sighed with concern.

"Of all the gate guards that have been interrogated so far, they all have very solid alibis."

"That leaves Vilion and you as members of Ben and Kyle's team" Dellon added.

"I already told the detectives that you have a solid alibi for just getting married, but it seems the detectives want to ask you directly" Dellon looked at Zach.

Zach thought hard again, What he experienced before was a terrible incident. Look at body position, blood spots, chess board and more the surroundings, Zach was pretty sure it was exactly the same as before. The only difference is that Zach isn't there as a victim.

He then held his head which was throbbing again then remembered something, "I'm sure Vilion was shocked because he was at the scene at that time" Zach looked down a little.

Dellon denied this and said later, "Vilion was not at the scene of the incident. According to his testimony, He did not come to guard because he was not feeling well."

Zach was immediately confused on the spot. "Not on guard? But didn't Kyle say that Vilion was on the wall that time? Did something change happen? or was it just a coincidence from the beginning" Zach had a hard time digesting what was going through his brain at the moment.

From the black tent, a disheveled figure of a blonde haired man stepped out while pressing his hat to his chest. His gaze was glazed as if filled with sadness. It's Villion Stark.

A moment later Vilion turned to Zach and Dellon. He walked slowly towards Dellon and glanced at Zach several times. After that, a man wearing a dark red halved hat and a suit of the same color came out of the tent.

Looked at Dellon and seemed to hint at something. Dellon turned to Zach and said, "The detective is calling you, come here. You don't need to worry, the sooner this passes the truth will be revealed" Dellon said to Zach.

Zach glanced at the detective in the crimson suit, he had short silver hair but wore a hat the same color as his coat. He has the intimidating look of a detective.

Zach walked accompanied by Dellon.

Inside the tent, Zach sits in front of the detectives. He glanced around the tent. A square table sits in the middle, two chairs each occupied by Zach and the Detectives.

Around the corner there were also two other detectives observing the interrogation. On the left is Victor Wilson. A man with brown hair and wearing square glasses with gold frames. On the right is Leon Gillet, a short man with black hair and brown eyes, and the features on his face are small like those of a teenager.

On the table was a small sign with the name 'Louis Scofield' written on it. Zach was still confused at this time, occasionally his head was still throbbing. The sensation of pain still often haunts him.

Louis tapped the table with his index finger. "I think you already know the outline of what's going on."

"That's why I don't need to explain more. Just tell me your alibi"

Zach looked down "Me, I'm on leave. I just got married two days ago, all day I just spend my time with my wife" Zach said. That is a lie as well as the truth.

Louis leaned back, looked at Zach who was behaving strangely.

"You know something.." Louis said, instantly Zach's eyes turned elsewhere.

Louis sighed and said seriously "Tell me what you know, then it will speed up the investigation"

Zach took a deep breath trying to calm down, He clenched his fists and said in a strange tone, "Is there a chance they were killed by non-humans?"

Louis flinched when he heard a question from Zach.
