Alex's POV.

"What did you just say to me? Who the fuck is getting married now?" I paused the minute I heard my assistant make a silly statement that wasn't pleasing to the ear.

We were still at the airport and just as stated, I was just returning from the long trip I embarked on a few years ago.

"I'm sorry sir Alex, I shouldn't have said such to you. I'm really sorry if I provoked you!" He apologised immediately with his face bowed to the ground.

"Are you sick in the head or something Assistant King? You started a rumour, why don't you just finish it up before I get out of my mind!" I ordered as I went closer to where he was standing.

"I'm not certain sir but after landing in Los Angeles, I overheard some staff member saying that she is now married to a man and is with a child that she calls her own." He explained further after I persuaded him to speak to me.

I froze for a second as the thought of the lady in question flashed through my mind. I felt sad but glad that she was happy.

"Seeing that she's the first person you are asking about since you landed Here sir, don't you think it will be okay for me to go check her out secretly? She won't know I was there!" Assistant King suggested with a smile on his face.

He knew how much I loved her before leaving the country for another state, he knew how much I cherished and wished to have her all to myself.

He knew how Abby Wilson and I were tagged as mates matched in heaven back then.

"Sir…" he called as he awaited my response.

I gave his suggestion a quick thought and the harm or effect it will have on me if she was really married to another man.

I released a heavy sigh when finally, I came to a perfect conclusion..

"Don't go after her, I don't want her to know I'm back and besides, I abandoned her at the altar…..I shouldn't interfere in her life anymore!" I asserted before walking out on my assistant frantically.

I wasn't happy knowing that she was married but if that was going to make her happy , staying without me? Then I'm fine.

I walked over to my car which was prepared for my sake. I bet my mom had everything in place for my return.

I climbed into the car and without any more delay, we drove out of the airport. We were heading back home to go see my mom when I suddenly stumbled on a coffee shop.

"Stop the car!" I commanded and was obeyed immediately without questions.

"Is this the best place one could get a well creamed coffee because it looks like it!" I asked, looking at my Assistant for a response.

He raised his shoulders high as to say .. I don't know . Which I didn't like.

I immediately climbed out of the vehicle , and the moment I tried going into the coffee store to go get a coffee, I paused for a second as I couldn't help but watch a little kid dance into his school.

He was so excited going to school with his lunchbox and his backpack. I was tempted to ask the little kid if he was okay going to the school but on a second thought, I had to quit the idea knowing that he wasn't my son.

"Sir, we need to get into the coffee store now before it becomes crowded. It's been announced in the media that you are back from the states!" Assistant King divulged with a panicking voice.

"The media? I don't think I can ever trust those fools!" I tsk as I halved a smile on my face before going into the shop.

Thinking that ordering a coffee will help me forget about Abby, I was still deeply engrossed about her as hell.

I couldn't stop thinking about the fun times and the bad times we spent together. She was all in my head and wasn't willing to get off.

'I couldn't stop thinking about you all these years Abby and coming back here for you made it worse. Why didn't you just wait for me before getting married, Abby? Why didn't you just stay still till I come back?' I thought to myself as I suddenly went all gloomy.

It really hurt my soul because of the so much love I had for her. It wasn't her fault though but I wished she had waited a few more years before getting married to someone else.

"Sir, we need to get up and leave now!! The media are closer than we can ever imagine!! They are coming for you!" Assistant King whispered into my ear the moment he saw how reluctant I was to go home.

I stood up slowly and walked over to my car sluggishly. I was immediately forced by King to go into the car.

And without any more hesitation, I was taken out of the coffee store before anyone came closer to ask me silly questions.

We got back home just as expected and with a warm welcoming embrace from my mom, I was ushered into the house like a wealthy man.

"Thank goodness you are back Alex. I've missed you so much!" She giggled as she walked with me into the house.

We went over to the dinner table as our meal was already set and ready for digestion.

"Come on Alex, let's eat and merry because it's been a while I felt so much energy in my body!" She confessed as she sat down close to him on the dinner table.

I was going to eat or start eating my meal when suddenly, my mom chirped in an irritating question.

"When are you going back to the states ,Alex? When are you leaving Again?"

"I don't get it mom!! I thought you were excited to see me just now and you are asking me to leave again?" I wondered as I had suddenly lost appetite to eat.

"You came back for the Christmas holidays Alex and if I'm not wrong, you should be heading the department over there so why the hell won't you go back?" She raised her voice at me, making me feel unloved.

"I can't believe you are saying this to me mom. You don't even miss and wish for me to fucking stay with you mom? You are…." I was going to say when she immediately cut me short.

"I should let you stay so you could go find that loser of a lady right? So you could go get acquainted with a lady with a low background right? I should have known!" My mom exasperated me as she just couldn't understand my reason for returning.

".... I'm done eating mom!" I stood up from the seat and was going to go back into my room but she stopped me .

"Make sure you book another flight back to the states before I lose it Alex and trust me, you won't want me to get off my head!" My mom threatened with a manipulating tone.

But unfortunately, I wasn't scared of her anymore. I was my own boss now and could decide what happens in my life.

"Suite yourself mom!" I walked out of her rudely, with Assistant King following me from behind.

"Go find out about Abby, her residence, place of work and everything about her. Find out her relationship with the man she's with too." I ordered my assistant who was behind me.

"Yes sir!" He halved a smile as he had awaited such an order since we came back home.

"I might have let loose the first time, but not anymore. If she's married then that's a different case but if she's not, I don't think I can hold back!"
