Seed of Hope

Earth: Year 3XXX The world as we know it had finally collapsed due to the nuclear wars between nations and powerhouses of Earth. At first, everyone was relatively safe in their homes but, after the first nuclear weapon was launched against Nation X, everything that humanity had worked hard on was wiped out — vanished. The wars engulfed the whole world, oceans evaporated, radiation permeated, living things burned and no stone was left untouched. Humanity naturally regretted taking this path and so, they once again banded together to save what was left of them. There was little they could work on and they had limited time. Their oxygen reserves were running low, food & water was also diminishing, only radiation was plentiful. How wondrous it is when humans work together but, perhaps it was too late. What was once in Billions have now turned into measly thousands. However, they persisted and have succeeded in their plan for survival. There was no plan B nor Plan C or any other plan. It was just a last resort plan. To send themselves into the cosmos and sleep in the ice inside their space shuttles until, maybe, a suitable planet is found. 9,000 lives went on their ice-caged space journey but, how many can lady luck set free? Join our survivors as they make themselves home in another world. PS: Not very inclined to Sci-Fi, just started it this way for convenience and plot.

Basic Breathing

"Thank Ya'll"

Gin then tented to his brothers. He cleaned their wounds with what little water they have left and patched them up with bandages and insta meds. 'Time to wait.'

Gin then assessed the situation the second time with one eye. He does not want to feel the piercing pain while using the mechanical eye. So, he forcefully closed his left eye with a piece of cloth.

The first assessment was when he witnessed the situation of his brothers and how they were badly beaten like battered meat. Now he saw corpses of beasts piled up outside the cave. Undoubtedly, they were killed by guns and the plasma pistol. Some corpses managed to enter the cave and went 'danger close' He could not imagine how the fight went. All he could do now was do his best guarding his awakening brothers. Just like how they did for him. Laying his life for them would be the best he could offer. 'System that system this, at the end, I live for my loved ones.'

Gin regretted having his ass on the mattress while the 3 desperately hanged to life just to guard him. Seeing Sel weak was a first, seeing Alex and Clay at that state was also horrifying for him. "I won't let this happen again!"

While his body was unable to move, Gin's mind was actually awake the whole time. He was exploring the system while he was in this kind of dimension of his own. Where and what is it? He could only guess.

During the 24 hours, he learned the contents of the book and earned the skill [Basic Breathing]

[Basic Breathing (Passive): Basic breathing technique for Mortal realm cultivators]

He also learned that the [CPS1] tab in the interface was a shop at level 1. There he could buy all sorts of items at his level, which is the Mortal realm. It was where he bought the 3 golden pills for his brothers. Fortunately, the starter pack gave him 100 CP and he could afford 3 golden pills for 30 CP each.

His single slot [Inventory] is empty right now. It will increase when he reaches the next realm. The shop will also unlock the [CPS2] after his advancement in cultivation. Genesis just ignored the remarks of the system.

'Anyways, since gaining this [Basic Breathing] I no longer feel oppressed by the air I breathe. It is actually satisfying to take it into the lungs!' Gin thought of this and decided to teach it to his brothers.

One more thing he learned is that the eye actually translates the language in the book. He just realized that the book was not written in any alphabet that he knew. 'How mystic. Well this is not Earth. I guess it is to be expected.' He needed to write his own version to translate the book into what his brothers could understand. Otherwise, how could they learn?

"While I wait for them to wake up, why not do this task?" Gin then took a recording device from Alex's cargo and started the translation.

---24 Earth hours later---

Gin had long been finished with the translation and was now checking his skills and the [CPS1] just to kill time. Weirdly enough, he did not feel very tired despite the fact that he was awake for a day straight.

Suddenly, the sound of coughing was heard from inside the cave. Genesis jolted in surprise and joy. He had been waiting for this. Sure enough, three figures simultaneously excited and had bright expressions on their faces except for Alex, he was always cold.

"Brothers!" Gin shot himself forwards to embrace them and all of them were shocked. Fast! In a second, Gin was in front of them. Luckily, his brothers are now at the entry level too, so he did not have to worry about getting them injured from hugging.

"HAHAHA! I knew you would wake up Gin." Diesel laughed genuinely.

"Lucky bastard." Clay commented.

"It is good that everyone is safe." Alex said but then added almost instantly. "But, we can't afford to celebrate." Alex said. Frankly speaking, Alex was indeed right on point. All of them knew it.

"Kuhum. You're right That's why I took the liberty of guarding you and the pod at the same time for 24 hours. Ah~~. I almost died like 30 times! Ah~ Sel carry me!"

"C-Can't you see I'm still tired?! Clay! Take care of him for the time being for me. I'll definitely repay you somehow." Diesel said.

"No can do. My arm is still mangled and ribs are still healing." Clay denied.

"Don't look at me. The poison is still rampant inside." Alex swiftly denied too.

"Ungrateful disciples! Kneel now and kowtow!" Gin shouted in disdain.

"Now you've done it! Alex, pin him down! I'll gladly sacrifice this arm just to feed him my knuckles!" Clay snapped again. Followed by Diesel's quick reflexes. And of course by Alex' despair. 'Maybe we are hopeless after all.'

"You dare! Come hit me. See if I teach you this divine technique!" Gin shouted as he took out a recording device from his pocket. "This is the key to survive here. I personally translated it from the book from the starting package." Silence…

"Clay, quickly grab him by the neck! Careful not to kill him." Diesel suddenly shouted.

"H-Huh?!" Gin was now the one who was shocked. 'What happened to my doting brother?!' "H-Huh?! You too Alex?" Gin was in despair as Alex controlled his movements. He finally realized that he was now going to be kept like a dairy cow that his 3 brothers will abuse. Milking him dry down to the last drop of milk from his system. 'How could this be?'

"HAHAHA! Midget. Die now!" Clay choked by and they retrieved the recording device with ease. For a good moment they forgot their hunger and thirst as well as their injuries. Perhaps it was due to their recent breakthrough to the Entry level of Mortal realm? Who really knows at this point?

The three brothers stole the device and studied it. It was a 30 minute recording. After just one listen, Alex learned it. Diesel and Clay took 2 hours to barely learn it. After that, they practiced it and realized that Slave Gi~kuhum~ Gin was indeed right about this. After learning this technique, they felt comfortable breathing. The difference was that they required ample amounts of mental capacity to use it. Unlike Gin who uses it passively thanks to his system.

"HA! Do you now realize that without me, ya'll are dead meat!" Gin said.

"..." Instead of any rebuttal Gin was faced with a realization that he actually messed up. Big time. He saw the devilish grins on his brothers' faces as they looked at him like hungry wolves that spotted a lone lamb. His spine went ice-cold and his instincts told him to get out of there instantly. 'Crap!'

"He he he. Midget~kuhum~I mean Patriarch~, come come. You are very valuable to us, we won't bite." Clay had the widest grin of all.

'Valuable?!' Gin shuddered.

"Hey now Clay. Don't scare Gin. He might run off and force us to chase him down." Diesel jokes.

'Chase me down?!' Gin almost fainted from his brother Diesel's 'joke.'

"Both of you stop right there. If you cause this system to disappear. Just know that I will personally act and take care of you guys." Said Alex. His aura was extremely cold and his face was as poker as it can get!

'This system?! How vicious Alex!' Gin finally coughed out blood in fear! "Guhack!"

"Y-you guys." Gin was utterly speechless! Maybe disclosing the system was the wrong move after all? Have the dogs come to bite the hand of its owner?

"By the way, How long is the sun going to stay up?" Clay asked.

"Based on our 3 year-long observations, It'll last 3 earth days on average. That would explain the rich flora." Alex answered.

"I see." Diesel chimed.

"I-I-Is that so?" Gin also joined the discussion. He seemed to have recovered fast.

"Yes. That also means that there will be darkness for 72 hours. What's the plan Syste~kuhum~Gin?" Alex said coldly.

'Could you not be more obvious?!' Gin was seriously afraid for his future. "R-Right. The plan is to Go back to the pod and take the supplies. Of course we do it fast. We have nothing but this pitiful plasma pistol and our even more pitiful cultivation. Once we reach the pod, we take all we can and bring it back here. We head out in 10."
