The Night I Met You

That night, the stars where shining brightly. It was quiet, serene and cool as if the buzzling city has no problems to face the next day. My best friend, Kate, and I was walking with me hand in hand; giggling to all the stories we were sharing on that time, when a suddenly a man in a motorcycle came rushing to our side of the street lane.

"Aaaaaaahhhhhhh!"

We screamed on the top of our lungs. We thought we were dying. However, nothing happened. We looked at each other and asked.

"Are you alright Kate?"

"Hmmmm. Yeah! What about you?"

"I am fine."

After checking ourselves if we had any bruises or scratches, we suddenly remembered the man in the motorcycle who almost crushed us to death.

"To hell with him!" I screamed internally.

When my eyes met the man lying on the floor, blood was flowing. I tried tapping his shoulder and ask if he was okay.

No response.

I checked for his wrist. Pulse was okay. I can not recklessly move his body since I may accidentally kill him due to mishandling. These are basic first aid knowledge.

I called someone for help while Kate called for emergency. Luckily, there was a police car who passed by and helped us.

They carried the man to the ambulance. The emergency team said that he was in a critical condition not due to the crash but the bullets found in many parts of his body.

We had no idea. We were both silent when they sent us to my home. Me and Kate could not imagine the things happened awhile ago.

Silence... the room was filled with silence.

I looked at my palms. There was blood in my hands. I was shocked not at the sight of the blood, but the numbers written in red ink like a code. I wasn't sure where I got it and how it was so written in my palms.

5-5-6-3-9-0

Number combinations.

"What the heck is this? God what now?"

Suddenly, I felt dizzy.

"What was that I saw just now?"

"Why was it so hazy?"

"Did I lose my mind?"

These were the questions I asked to myself.

"Alena, are you okay???" Kate asked.

"I don't think I'm okay girl!" I answered.
