After the world had changed drastically, and people were summoned for Hunter Tutorials to protect Earth from dungeons, Lucien had lived life as a C rank Hunter with the Mage class due to his average performance in the tutorial. However, after entering a Triangular dungeon gate, his entire party was destroyed and he returned to the time when he was summoned for the tutorial. He was determined to live a better life than his average previous one, and that would start with the performance he displayed in the Hunter Tutorial.
Lucien looked inside of the room, and saw a scene he had never witnessed before. The boy who had entered the dungeon was sat playing with what seemed to be a baby Head Gremlin.
Rather than injuring him, the monster had for some reason taken a liking to the boy.
"Hey buddy, you okay in here?"
The little boy looked over at Lucien and smiled, "Hi, I'm playing with my friend Gremmy. Who are you?"
"I'm Lucien, I'm a Hunter. Your mom and dad are very worried about you, you've got to come back to them, okay mate?"
"I don't want to, I want to stay and play with Gremmy."
When the boy said this, he suddenly disappeared from the room. Lucien was stunned, and could only wait for him to return with Yui, while the young Head Gremlin cried on the floor at the disappearance of its new friend.
"What just happened?" Yui asked.
"I don't know, but if I'm right, he should probably be back really soon."
When he said this, the boy appeared again, and he was visibly shaken.
"Are you okay buddy? Where did you go?" Lucien asked.
"I don't know. There was an angry rabbit. I just wanted to be its friend, but it was so mean, and then I was back here again."
"Do you see anything weird in front of you? Like a screen?"
"Yeah, there's a weird thing in front of me. I says I'm a Hunter now, and that I have a Class? Am I a Hunter like all of the super cool heroes?"
"It seems like it, what does it say your class is little guy?"
"Umm, it says I'm a tamer. What does that mean?"
"I don't know to be honest, but we really do need to get out of here, and I'm really sorry, but that means your new friend has to go."
The boy stood up, and a tear began welling up in his eyes, "No, I'm not going to let you hurt my friend."
"We can't leave if we don't, I'm sorry but that's the only way."
"No, please don't hurt him." The boy ran over to the young Head Gremlin, and began to hug it tightly, his tears dropping onto the monster.
When this happened, the look in the creatures eyes changed, and it hopped onto the little boys shoulder. Instantly, they were teleported out of the dungeon, and when Lucien looked in front of him, where the child had previously been, the boy was stood with the monster still on him.
This shocked him, but he knew what the cause was, the little boy had gained the power to tame monsters, and he had instinctively used his skill to keep his new friend with him.
The crowd was still there, and everyone looked at the people who had returned from the dungeon.
Unlike what one might think, the first ones to react were not the parents, but the guards, as they pointed their guns at the Head Gremlin that was still attached to the boy.
One of them shouted, "Get away from that monster little boy, I'm going to shoot it."
The boy shouted back, "No, he's my friend, you can't hurt him!"
Lucien also jumped into the situation, "I agree, don't shoot the creature. The kid's become a Hunter. He can tame monsters. He's got a bright future, don't take that from him."
Upon seeing that the Hunter, Lucien, thought that the boy was safe and that the monster wasn't a threat, the guards put their guns down, and let the parents through to see the boy.
They were quick to check that their son was okay, and despite the strange situation, they were incredibly happy that he was safe, and this happiness was made even higher by the fact that he had become a Hunter.
The parents looked at Lucien, and the father smiled, "Thank you so much, I can never repay you enough."
"It's all good, just glad the kid's okay. Make sure he becomes a good Hunter in the future, don't let him waste his potential."
With that, Lucien went to ask Yui a question, only to see her receiving a hug from the child's mother. She looked a bit awkward, but he knew that she was happy to have been able to help out.
When she was done, he turned to Yui to speak to her, "So, how did you find the dungeon?"
She smiled, "It was a little stressful, but oddly fun. Definitely eventful as well, I know I didn't do a lot, but I hope you can keep me around so we can Hunt together forever."
Lucien laughed, "You've got my word, we'll be together forever, and that is a promise."
Yui went a bit red, "Good, you better keep it."
"You still want to go get some food?" Lucien asked.
"Absolutely, I'm starving, I didn't really eat anything this morning, but still. I think this is the hungriest I've ever been."
"That makes sense, I read somewhere that something about dungeons drains your energy after you've left."
Lucien hadn't actually read this, but he did know about it from his past life experiences.
"That's good to know, I'll keep that in mind in the future."
"No problem."
With that, the two of them began to walk off together to go and get food. They went back the way they had come, and passed by a family who's small children were feeding the ducks, reminding the two of them of themselves as kids.
The walk to the cafe wasn't long, and they soon arrived, being seated at a nice table for two with comfortable chairs.
The inside of the cafe was nice, albeit a little small and rustic. The two looked at their menus and decided on what they wanted, and both agreed that a full English breakfast was definitely the way to go.
They ordered their food, and when it arrived, they both stared at it, excited to finally have something to eat. They both began to eat, and chatted to one another the entire time, before they decided to go home and get some rest.
