Riley
The constant rhythm of Xaden's breathing soothed me despite my insides twisted with the panic of the thought of maybe being pregnant.
A baby.
Was this how my mom felt when she found out about me? I chewed on my lip. Had Mom been as terrified as me to have an unexpected pregnancy?
"Why aren't you sleeping?" Xaden's chest rumbled with his voice.
It was pitch-black with the Roulex having turned off the scant fluorescent lights in the hallway.
"Sorry, just trying to shut my mind off from everything. The possible baby. My mom. How I'd love to have her here to talk to again." Tears clogged my throat. "I miss her so much."
Xaden was silent, and I decided to believe he was letting me decide if I wanted to share more information or not rather than the standoff-ish way he'd been since we had sex. He'd had more loss than me and it wasn't fair for me to burden him, but my emotions were out of whack. Was that a sign of being pregnant?
