“Kieran went to see his sister.”
“Oh. And how long has he been gone?”
Liam leaned back in the sofa and eyeballed her. Wasn’t going to play this game anymore. “Two weeks.”
“That must be tough for you.” Netty was picking at the label on her beer. She glanced up. “I’m sorry he had to go.”
“He’ll be back.”
“I’m sure he will.”
Liam took a good gulp of his beer and set it down on the table between them. “Why did you come here, Netty? Hm?”
She widened her eyes and pressed a hand to her heart. “What’s that supposed to mean? Whydid I come here? Ever think I missed you, Liam? That I’ve been thinking about you? That—”
“All right, fair enough. But here’s the thing…I know you were the one who told Ted about me and Kieran. You basically outed me to my boss. You think I’m okay with that?”
