But Kieran stopped him, taking hold of his hand. “Wait.” He tugged on Liam, trying to look into his eyes. “I’m not expressing myself well. Please, hold on.” He came closer and pressed his hands to Liam’s chest. “I love you,” he whispered. “That hasn’t changed.”

Liam sighed, his anger fading fast.

“And, Liam—” Kieran stopped, obviously unable to speak. Tears were choking him and he pushed himself into Liam’s arms.

“What is it, baby?” Liam couldn’t stay angry. He felt Kieran’s inner turmoil. Could feel it right through Kieran’s body. He was being tough on Kieran. Tootough. Kieran was twenty years old. He was trying to do the right thing. He needed support right now. Who could Kieran turn to, if he couldn’t turn to him?

“I love you, too,” Liam whispered into Kieran’s hair. “It’s all right. Everything’s gonna be all right. Go to your sister. We’ll take this time to be on our own and I’ll think things through. I will.”
