Chapter 66

Kieran was leaving this week, in four days. On Thursday, he was flying out to Alberta to live with his aunt for a month. Liam couldn’t keep Kieran from his baby sister and he didn’t want to. But what would happen in a month, when Kieran returned?

“Are you thinking about him leaving?” Angie touched Liam’s arm and put the dish towel on the counter. “He hasn’t changed his mind?”

Liam turned the faucet off and looked over at Angie. He shook his head.

“And you haven’t either.” Angie smiled sadly and nodded. “You’re doing the right thing, Liam. The worst thing for this little girl would be to come home to a man who has serious doubts about raising her. And you have a right to say no. This isn’t like buying a new car. This is life.”

“I think I’m gonna lose him.” Liam finally spoke his worst fear out loud. “He’s gonna go over there. He’s gonna take one look at his sister and his heart is gonna melt. He’s not gonna wanna leave there without her.”
