Liam’s heart beat loudly. In this instant, Kieran seemed much older than his age. Liam was getting a glimpse of what Kieran would look like in ten years from now, when the boyish features had faded from his handsome face, and the more mature man would come to the surface. He realized how stunning Kieran would be in a few more years.

The kind of man who’d turn every head.

“Don’t worry about that yet,” he said, wanting to delay this conversation. If Kieran got custody of his sister and took her in, where would they live? Was Kieran thinking of living with him? Liam knew he didn’t have it in him to raise a child. “We’re still here for now,” he added.

“Liam. I don’t like putting my head in the sand, okay? That’s not how I do things. Look, you wanna go around pretending this is our life, that we own it, that we can be together, you go ahead and play that game. Me, I know it’s all bullshit.”

“Oh yeah?”

“Yeah,” Kieran echoed, his eyes burning bright. “Bullshit.”
