“Liam, say something or I swear to God—”

“He’s a friend.”

“A friend?”

“Yeah, a friend.”

“Liam, he’s a kid. What do you guys have in common? I don’t get this. Why is he living here if he’s got a job and—”

“Rye.” Liam’s voice was barely a whisper. “Because Kieran’s more than a friend.”

His brother inhaled a short breath and stumbled back as though he’d been struck in the plexus by some invisible weight. “What do you mean? What are you saying to me here?”

Their eyes met.

Liam held his brother’s stare, trying to decipher the emotion in it.

But no matter what the outcome was, Liam had come too far to stop now. And for some inexplicable reason, he wasn’t scared anymore.

If we’re wrong, then we’ll be wrong together.
