Against him, Kieran exhaled loudly and turned his face upwards, looking into Liam’s eyes. “What are you so scared of?”

Liam wanted to answer, but couldn’t seem to find a correct response. Everything was muddled. Nothing was clear anymore. If he loved Kieran, and Kieran felt safe with him, then how could this be wrong?

“What, Liam? Tell me. Talk to me. What are you so afraid of? Why can’t you let this happen?”

“I’m scared of doing the wrong thing,” Liam finally said.

“Okay, but if we’re wrong, then we’ll be wrong together.”

“You’re so young. You can’t really understand what the implications are here. How can we explain this to people? A forty-four-year old man living with a man half his age?”

“Don’t pull that card on me. It’s too easy. So, I’m young. But I’m also wiser than my years, and you know it. I’ve been through a lot, Liam. I could never be with a guy my age. And I don’t want to.” Kieran pressed his hands tight. “I love you, Liam. I love you so much. Be with me—”
